Is it possible to pull a field description via either API or Airtable scripts?

I’m trying to find a way to pull the field description (described here: Adding a field description – Airtable Support) via the REST API or Airtable scripts. Is there any way to access this data outside of the web interface?

You can get a field description from the scripting api. It is documented here.
