Is there a way to lock a file so other can't change it?

We have a table of all possible beds in our homeless shelter and link to it when a guest is assigned to that bed. When the guest moves to a different bed or leaves the shelter, our managers sometimes accidentally change the bed # instead of un-linking from the original bed# and re-linking to the new one. I’d like to be able to block changes to the bed file itself.

I’m sure the same issue would apply to account numbers, business names, employees to be assigned, and lots of other base files.
