Link a file with an automation?

Hello everybody! I was trying to create an automation that linked a file to another file automatically. Is there a way to do this? I assume I need to use a “Update Record” action.

I’m not sure what you mean by “link a file to another file”. Can you detail your base structure (tables and columns) and how you want your automation to work? ie. how does the automation know which file to link to which?

We have several different bases that sync to one base in which we have our “root files” holding everyone our company has ever contacted. What I am trying to do is use an automation, to add those people (from the synced tables) to the “root files” table (which is not synced). I have solved this part, however I also want to link that record from the root files to the synced table to show it is now a root file. Using a “Link to another record” field/Column.

Is there a way to do this via an automation @Eric_Lord
