Hey Airtable Community 👋🏻

You might have noticed a little something different with the community, and we wanted to share a little bit about what we’ve been working on! The community will experience disruptions starting Friday, Feb 28. Why, you ask?

Well, we always want to create a better experience for our members guided by what our members find most important. Based on feedback that we’d been hearing, we realized that meant redesigning a community experience tailored to better connect, engage, and empower all of our members! We’ve put a lot of thought into what this will look like and, in just a few more days, we can’t wait to unveil the new community that we’ve been hard at work building for you.

However, because you’ve been such a prolific community (give yourselves a pat on the back 👏), that means we have a ton of data over the years that we want to make sure is migrated properly. This is why the Airtable Community will be in read-only mode until the dust settles.

More to come, but we can’t wait to enter this new era of community with you all soon!

P.S. If you do need any Airtable help in the meantime, please head over to the Help Center!

Hi, It is February 23, 2025 and I seem to be able to post comments even though this post says that the community should be in read-only mode right now.

@kuovonne We are working with our forum host on this and will update the dates on the banner when we have a resolution!

@GCheung Can you post the proper information in this thread while you figure out how to update the banner? Is the migration done? Is the migration not yet started? Will posts and comments made during this time period disappear? Why is this so confusing?

Not to worry @kuovonne. As @GCheung mentioned, we're working hard on our end to get updated timelines and we'll share once we available.

Wow. The community will be completely unavailable (not even read-only) for an unspecified amount of time? Any idea how long "temporarily" is? A few hours, a few days, a few weeks?

What will be displayed while it is down? Are we just supposed to periodically check back and hope that the community is back? Where should we go to get status updates on the community while it is down?

Hey @kuovonne, totally understand your frustrations and appreciate your passion for this community! We are working through next steps with multiple parties and absolutely want to make sure that we minimize any issues for the community while we migrate which means we want to tread carefully hence the extra time needed.

As soon as we have a better idea of what's next, we will share updated dates and information with the community. Thanks for your patience as we work on this!

Hi @GCheung,

- Will all of our subscriptions carry over to the new forum? I've subscribed to many threads so that I may continue helping people who have questions in those threads, and I would like to continue to receive notifications for those threads that I have subscribed to.

- Will our user accounts in the new forum still be linked to our posts in the new forum? More specifically, will we still be able to go back and edit our old posts in the new forum? I often update my old posts with newer & more current information to help Airtable's customers, so I would still like the ability to edit my old posts in the new forum.

Also, regarding URLs of posts:

- Note that many of Airtable's Support Articles link to many of the community posts. If the URLs of the posts change with the new forum, then all of those support articles will need to be updated. Alternatively, you guys could implement URL forwarding from the old links to the new links.

- Similarly, when you use an Internet search engine to search for Airtable help, it links to all the current URLs of the current forum. Hopefully, you guys can implement URL forwarding to ensure that those links don't break.

Thank you!
- ScottWorld, Expert Airtable Consultant

All great questions, @ScottWorld — here's what we know right now:

  1. Subscriptions - If you started a topic or replied to a topic, you will still get notified of new replies. Other subscriptions, like to discussion categories, you will need to resubscribe.
  2. User accounts - Yes, your user profile data will be migrated over to the new experience.
  3. URLs - URL redirects are part of our migration checklist. If members notice anything wrong or broken links, we will be sharing a way you can submit those bugs to our team.

Again, we want to make sure that this migration is as painless as possible, but we're dealing with technology so it's likely not going to be 100% perfect. It will be a community effort to get us to the finish line, but we're excited for you all to see the new experience once it's ready!

Thanks for all the great information, @GCheung! Will we also be able to edit our previous posts on the new forum as well?
