I am not sure what I am doing wrong. When I use the script I have written on the scripting extension I get the desired output, however when I put that same script into an automation, the output is all wrong.
It may help if you provide some detail. It is going to be hard for someone to help you troubleshoot this issue until you give specifics, like what is the script code? What are the expected and unexpected results? Maybe include screenshots?
