Sending automatic email with logic that pulls email associated with an "author" field

I’ve successfully created some automations to create an approval process when a status field says For Approval (trigger). The email goes to the 2 collaborators I listed in the action by email address separated by comma. Great. I’d like another action that notifies by email the “author” when the trigger is status Approved. That author could be 1 of 15 people and I don’t want to send all notifications to all people. Can I create an email action with logic that emails the “author” when that author is a verified collaborator with an email address associated with their account? Automatically pulling that author’s email info like a token? So far I can only see the option to set/pick the email addresses. Any help appreciated.
