Hello,

I'm wondering if there's a workaround to import data into linked fields. For example, I'm importing monthly salary information to a data table and the employee name corresponds to the primary field of a different table. Airtable only imports the non-linked fields.

Would it be possible to import the employee name as a different field then run a script to create the linked record ? Or any other ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

Hmm, if you're importing CSVs, the CSV Import extension allows you to import into linked fields

Otherwise, if the employee names are a 1:1 match to the other table, you could try just copy pasting the values from the employee name field into the linked field which would create the links immediately

Thanks Adam, I didn't realise this is so straightforward with extension !

I tried using the csv import extension, however, my linked field links to a table that is one-way synced from another base. I get an error saying "Cannot create records in linked table. You can't create records in 'XXXX ' because it is a synced table." While the table itself is synced, the specific field in question is one that was created in that table, as opposed to being synced over the other base. I understand why I wouldn't be able to preserve the linked field if that field was a synced field from another base, but given the field I'm working with is not synced from another base, I think should be able to preserve the linked relationship when importing the CSV.

Is anyone aware of any workarounds here? In short, I want to import data from a csv into an existing table and preserve a linked field when the new data is imported.
