Hi, I'm relatively new to Airtable - still enjoying learning how to build neat things with it!

I've noticed that when I'm testing my Airtable forms, my browser doesn't pop up the usual menu of autofill options for things like my name, email, address, etc. as usual. Is Airtable blocking this somehow? Can I un-block that? It certainly makes testing slower but more importantly, autofill helps users accurately enter common information, saving them time and reducing typos and other common errors. Example screenshot attached - starting to type my name doesn't offer to fill out the rest like it does on just about every other form on the web 🙃

I searched Google and this community before posting but found almost nothing mentioning this, but got a lot of unrelated things since "Autofill" is often discussed in relation to formulxs [sic] etc. Sorry if this has already been asked.

Thanks!

-Chris

Hey Chris! Airtable forms don’t natively support browser autofill because they don’t use standard form input attributes like autocomplete. However, a workaround is using a third-party form tool (like Typeform or Jotform) that integrates with Airtable and supports autofill. If you’d like help setting this up, let me know!

You may want to open a support ticket with Airtable at support@airtable.com to see what they have to say about this issue. Maybe they have some workaround to offer, but otherwise you can suggest it to them as a feature request.

In the meantime, you may want to build your forms with Fillout’s advanced forms for Airtable, which has become the top form solution for Airtable over the last few years.

Fillout is 100% free and it offers hundreds of features that Airtable’s native forms don’t offer, including the ability to update Airtable records from a form, display Airtable lookup fields & rollup fields & attachments & formulas on forms, perform math or other live calculations on your forms, accept payments on forms, create multi-page forms with conditional paths, create new linked records on a form, add CAPTCHAs to your form, and much more.

Hope this helps! If you’d like to hire an expert Airtable consultant to help you with anything Airtable-related, please feel free to contact me through my website: Airtable consultant — ScottWorld

Thanks for the information everyone. Sounds like my suspicions were correct, this is a known bug. I'd like to avoid adopting another tool, moving all our forms, and having another monthly fee to work around this. I'll contact support in hopes that they'll prioritize a fix - seems like it would be pretty easy to do! But there may be a good reason they haven't done it yet.

Fillout is free (and it’s way more powerful than Airtable’s forms), but yeah, you’d have to rebuild all your forms from scratch. Hopefully, Airtable will come out with a bug fix at some point. Thanks for letting us know that it’s a known bug!
