Re-ordering entries on a field

I have a linked field from one table to another.

on the table itself I sort them in order of date, but when I click into the linked field they dont seem to be in any order. can these be re-ordered automatically?

I’m not at my computer right now so I can’t verify this, but I think it shows them in the sort order of the very first view of the linked table.
