Status: New Ideas
What is the proposed idea/solution?

The ability to filter linked record selection by other values selected in the form. For instance, if I have an Estimate form that is linked to "Clients" and "Projects," I would like to limit Projects to those owned by the Client.

How does it solve the user problems?

It decreases the risk of data entry errors, and saves time searching through unrelated records. This is especially true in cases where tables are set up using unique ID's that don't contain searchable data from other fields.

How was this validated?

Building Interfaces / Forms to run my business.

Who is the target audience?

Anyone using Interfaces & Forms

That is already a part of Airtable, and you can already do exactly what you are looking to do.

You can learn more about this feature here: https://support.airtable.com/docs/dynamic-filtering-in-linked-record-fields

Hope this helps! If youโ€™d like to hire an expert Airtable consultant to help you with anything Airtable-related, please feel free to contact me through my website: Airtable consultant โ€” ScottWorld

Thanks @ScottWorld, I actually forgot to check the field settings in the data tab. I still think it would make sense to include an option to add/edit these settings in interface forms to better separate our concerns, but it's a good start.

Yes, funny that you mention that, because I was having the exact same thought as a result of your post. I totally agree with you! That would be a very cool feature for Airtable to add: the ability to have the linked record fields on the form operate differently than the linked record fields back in the data layer.

One thing you may want to consider is to use Fillout's advanced forms for Airtable for your form needs. I'm always promoting Fillout here, because I just love them so much. Fillout is 100% free, and Fillout would enable you to gain this same exact functionality in your forms WITHOUT modifying your field settings in Airtable.
