What is the proposed idea/solution? True emailing and calling functionality. The ability to send and receive emails and make and receive calls within airtable and have them log to the record or even multiple records. Preferably the user would be able to choose from popular third party email and phone providers that would integrate in. How does is solve the user problems? To my mind, with this feature, airtable now becomes a real alternative to CRM systems, helpdesk/ticketing systems, etc. How was this validated? ... Who is the target audience? Really anyone using airtable. The most popular CRMs and other systems are starting to feel old and tired. People WANT to use airtable for more and more things, but until there are true communication features built in, it's hard to do so.

Currently the automation actions are quite limited, in most of my automations I have to resort to scripts. This poses some challenges: - often I have to use apikeys in the script to integrate with other services, these apikeys are now exposed to every user - If I want to re-use a script, it's now located in multiple automations and changing it / version control becomes cumbersome I would love to have the option as an owner to create custom script templates that the users (in my workspace) can use. See it as my custom automation action based on an automation script. This way I can hide the apikeys and easily re-use scripts across automations.

I am using Airtable and Softr to create a webpage for my nonprofit. One feature that is essential for this app is for the users to be able to edit and view data that is grouped by a particular value (an article's name, in my case). I find it very frustrating that Airtable only allows for views to be embedded, which do not allow inline editing, although they offer interface design which does allow for inline editing, but is not supported to embed. Having flipped through Airtable and Softr community platforms, there have been many requests dating back to over 3 years ago now, with no update. One use said "they don't seem to care". If that is the case, I need to find a new platform because this is an essential feature for the functionality of my page. @dashler78 Can you please provide the community with an expected timeline for this feature, or for an explanation of why it is not offered? What is the proposed idea/solution? Please make it possible to sync the google drive in an automation or from an API call as an extra option beside just the 5 minute interval or manual click in the airtable><Google Drive table that is currently available. How does is solve the user problems? When you are designing workflows in an airtable interface and the flow is touching on a document that is created and then stored in a google drive, your workflow is automatically interupted now until the sync is completed between airtable and Google drive before you can work with the data from the newly created document. The only way to bypass this lagg currently is by manually going into the table and press the "sync now" button. However, in many use cases (including mine), you dont want the customer to go into the data part of airtable. How was this validated? I have been looking online and the only somewhat relevant info is on how to keep the table "alive" by setting up an automation on an interval. But that doesnt solve the problem as it still requires you to wait a few minutes for the sync to automatically occur. Who is the target audience? Workflow designers who have customers who only get access to interfaces or external access (like softr, make etc.)

What is the proposed idea/solution? Permit an integration with Google Drive for Cloud Storage or any other platform as such for attachments because when there are attachments included within in a Form, the database cannot handle the capacity which airtable provides. How does is solve the user problems? The user can now view critical documents through Google Drive from the airtable once the user clicks on any cell which has an attachment, or you could use an API to Pull that data and show it in some interface within airtable itself to make it easier for the user to visualise, but the data is stored in GDrive. How was this validated? After I tried showcasing Airtable to the Senior Management who had already invested in Microsoft Suite, they found it ridiculously expensive for only having 1GB of cloud storage for attachments when you could simply connect to your Google Drive or Dropbox and avail extra storage which is not an available feature. Who is the target audience? Anyone who requires additional storage for attachments.

What is the proposed idea/solution? Pivot table to be added as a view instead of used as an app integration. The integrations don't have the same control or usability as a native view and require you to full-screen them thus losing the rest of the interface. How does it solve the user problems? Users can have their data stored in a grid view and then have pivot tables for each filters data set How was this validated? Through our business use case, we need to view multiple pivot tables from one data set. Who is the target audience? Business owners and product managers

What is the proposed idea/solution? Create / Download / Send to Drive csv with an automation so that you can back up tables or views or the results of find records action How does is solve the user problems? Problem: Snapshots are not a real backup solution since there is no way to restore them without braking any third party integrations that would need to be re-made. The issue of the record ids in the snapshot being different than in the original also means copy/paste is out of the question for linked records. Solution: automated csvs as partial table backups that you can actually import or paste into tables needing restoration Would also help with certain kinds of integration How was this validated? ? I love the slack integration! I'd love to be able to customize which types of updates come through - for example, I'd like to be able to limit update notifications to when someone comments, or someone @'s me, but not when someone changes status, or adds info to a field. Also, I'd like to be able to set it to ignore updates that I myself make, as I don't really need to be notified of those. 🙂 Thank you!
