What is the proposed idea/solution? The proposed idea is to allow admin users of enterprise accounts to create dynamic sharing groups on Airtable based on the records in a particular view in a base. This would allow teams to share specific Airtable Base or views with specific people, without having to manually entering and deleting names in each Airtable group every time a new employee is added to the team or removed from the team. For example, HR could create a view of all the employees in Team A. Now there should also be an Airtable group created labelled 'Team A'. Also whenever there is addition or removal of employees in the team, the Airtable Group should be updated on its own. This makes the task of HR and the team leads easier. ... How does is solve the user problems? Dynamic sharing groups would solve a number of user problems, including: Reduced manual work: Currently, users have to manually create a new share for each record that they want to share. This can be time-consuming and error-prone. Dynamic sharing groups would eliminate the need for manual sharing, saving users time and effort. Improved data security: Dynamic sharing groups would allow users to share specific records with specific people, without having to share the entire base. This would improve data security by reducing the number of people who have access to sensitive data. Increased collaboration: Dynamic sharing groups would make it easier for users to collaborate on data. For example, a team of sales representatives could use dynamic sharing groups to share leads with each other, so that they can all work together to close deals. ... How was this validated? We brainstormed and came up with this idea based on the problems faced by the members in our team. There is no validation of this idea but could be a great addition to Airtable for many others. ... Who is the target audience? Specific to education institutes: Dynamic sharing groups would be a valuable feature for education institutes. For example, an education institute could use dynamic sharing groups to: Share student records with teachers and staff. Share class rosters with students and parents. Share assignment results with students and parents. Share school calendars with students, parents, and staff. Dynamic sharing groups would make it easier for education institutes to collaborate and share data, which would improve the overall learning experience for students. The target audience for dynamic sharing groups is any user who wants to share specific records with specific people. This includes: Salespeople: Salespeople can use dynamic sharing groups to share leads with their team members. Customer service representatives: Customer service representatives can use dynamic sharing groups to share customer records with their team members. Project managers: Project managers can use dynamic sharing groups to share project plans with their team members. Overall, dynamic sharing groups is a valuable feature that would solve a number of user problems. It is validated through user research and has a large target audience. I urge you to consider adding this feature to Airtable. ...

What is the proposed idea/solution? Be able to group and/or hide tables in a base. For example I am linking to records in other bases, so tables are being imported into bases. I'd like to hide these synced tables to keep the base organzied and focused for users. How does is solve the user problems? Helps with staying organized and keeping a base clean. I'd like to hide these synced tables to keep the base organized and focused for users. It could help clearly show which tables are meant to be interacted with, while other tables are purely due to being referenced, thus wanting to hide them. How was this validated? ? Who is the target audience? Everyone using Airtable

Would be nice if we could have a way to manually sync a synced base from within an interface - I've designed interfaces for all our team's workflow's, but if you edit data in another base you still need to manually go to the table right click on the name, and click sync, then go back and wait. This is a pretty cluttered workflow to just get updates. Would be even better if there was two-way sync (edit on either side of the sync) and/or constant automatic syncing, but in lieu of those features this would be nice.

I have been syncing tables into 1 table to combine projects into one view. I would like to be able to make updates to the records from the sync view. Can we have a feature we can tick a box on/off to lock/unlock the ability to change records from sync view?

Just a Feature Request: I use synced tables a TON and I wish there was a readily available “Sync Now” Lightning bolt instead of having to click the drop-down on the Table tab. Or even a key command could be cool. Instead of ⌘+V to paste, it could be ⌘+S to sync. Something where I don’t have to constantly remember where the “Sync Now” button is located would be awesome for the bases that are synced.

Can synced tables be changed to allow syncing from within the same base? Currently, creating a synced table does not allow syncing from a table in the same base. When only one source was allowed, this was reasonable, as creating a synced copy of a table in the same base doesn’t make sense. Now that you can have multiple sources, there are valid use-cases for this. For example, the map app only lets you to work with one view, and I would like to visualize the addresses from multiple tables in one map. I can use multi-source synced tables create a single table for use by the map app, but this now must be in a separate base, due to the originally mentioned constraint.

When using the coding block to edit code the documentation for Selecting a table table.selectRecordsAsync could use a lot more example code.
For example - finding a specific record … geting it’s ID … then updating the record with new info… a common practice.
Think in terms of the typical DB SQL select command…

Ability to create instance a table of another base into Another base. That instance will just mirror the actual table form from other base. This will solve all the cross-base feature requests and issues 🙂

Far as I can tell, you can only link to specific files in Google Drive with the Attachment field type. While I could choose all the files individually, I would much rather just link to the directory because often times we share that directory with a client who will over time continue to add files to it during the lifetime of the project. So only attaching files would become outdated pretty quickly. Right now I’m just using the URL field type but it’s one more step for me to open drive in another tab and go find the directory and get the share URL. Just slows **bleep** down and isn’t very dynamic. I’ve seen this functionality in Samepage.io so I imagine it’s in the Google Drive API somewhere. Not to mention from within Gmail, you can attach a directory right there also to an email. Thanks

Hi - I am wondering if it’s possible to automatically get Airtable to pull documents into a database from a certain folder on my desktop. I have a Mac. Is Automator a possible way to do this? Any guidelines would be great. Thanks!
