I’d love to see a new data type that takes the URL of an image file and renders the image rather than just displaying the URL as a link. I would think that this would save you some storage space as well by letting us link to hosted files rather than pulling them in as attachments.

Disappointing that this hasn’t been addressed yet. Anyone found any other workarounds?

Not exactly the same, but we built a workaround that solves this problem: Convert URLs to Attachments in Bulk. It does exactly what it says and it works with unlimited amount of records. You can also schedule it to run regularly so that new records are always converted.

+1 for this again. Another approach would be to add another formatting option to the existing formula field. If the formula returns a URL, have a formatting option to display the image inline.

+1 also, please let us paste a URL from Google Drive or Google Photos and show a thumbnail of that photo as well as be able click to open that photo.

Similarly - is there any capability for a remotely-hosted attachment, ie. images hosted on a different server but which can display as attachment thumbnails in Airtable?
