Hello!

It would be great to have the option to hide Prefill Fields in a form, especially when pre-filling fields with dynamic data.

In my case, I have a table with users, and I need to add more information about them. To do this, I create a new table and a form. Then, I set up an automation to transfer some data from the new form to the main table.

I will repeat this process several times, as I need to conduct multiple surveys at specific time intervals.

The problem is that I need a reliable unique identifier. I would like to send each user an individual URL with Prefill Fields containing their unique ID. However, I donโ€™t want them to see or modify this ID.

Unfortunately, I donโ€™t see an option to create a truly hidden field in standard formsโ€”only conditional fields.

Thanks for considering this request!

@OlhaZalevska

Yes, you can both prefill and hide a field by changing the URL of your form, as outlined in this Airtable support article.

However, a much easier & more reliable way of doing this would be to use Filloutโ€™s advanced forms for Airtable, which is 100% free and lets you update records from a form without continually generating new URLs for each record, which you would need to do with Airtableโ€™s forms whenever the data in the record changes.

Hope this helps! If youโ€™d like to hire the best Airtable consultant to help you with anything Airtable-related, please feel free to contact me through my website: Airtable consultant โ€” ScottWorld

@ScottWorld  Thanks for your help!

It worked โ€” I added hide_FieldNameOrTitle=true.
Of course, the URL ended up being ridiculously long, so I might consider using external forms in the future.

Thanks again! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Haha, yes, very long! And note that you will have to continuously change that URL over & over again, whenever the data in the record changes. And the user will always need to remember to use the new URL instead of the old URL. If they use the old URL, then they will get a form with outdated data on it.

So yeah, the easiest & best solution is to just standardize on Fillout for these purposes.
