Hello everyone! I’m Patti, a Product Designer at Airtable and I’m excited to share Mobile Interfaces are now available to use on your iPhone!
Whether you're commuting, away from your desk, or simply prefer using your phone, you can now effortlessly view and manage interfaces from the convenience of the Airtable app. All you have to do is download the latest version of the Airtable iOS app.
Below are some key functionalities you’ll see on mobile:
Easily navigate to your interfaces directly from the Airtable app home screen or from links in emails and notifications.
Cut through the noise and view full-screen pages of List, Gallery, Calendar, or Kanban layouts. Not only that, you’ll also be able to search and filter records using the tab or dropdown filter elements.

Make edits to field data, view and add comments, and take most button actions on a record.

Add new records through a form.

As you use the new mobile experience, please share your thoughts with us—we value your feedback as we continue to improve and develop more features and layouts. We’re looking forward to hearing what you think! Again, just make sure you have the most updated version of the app.
Last but not least, we did not forget about all our amazing Android users! Stay tuned for an update in the near future.
Thanks for this release!
I was able to experiment with this a little bit on my phone.
A few questions...
I have the most recent version of the Airtable app installed on my iPad, but I don't see interfaces there. Is this a phone only release? What about mobile tablets?
On my iPhone, can I get to an interface from the base itself, or only from the home screen?
For now, on the home screen of the app, is looking at the small text "interface" or "base" the best way to tell if an icon is for a base versus an interface? (Eventually, I expect there will be better methods.)
Are the full-screen pages the only pages that are usable on mobile? So, the original free-form page designs are not available? Are there plans to make the original page designs (including the free-form page and record review page) available with mobile?
I haven't tested it out, but does the new ability to create new records inline work here? That would be awesome.
Finally, I haven't experimented that much because one of the first pages I made was a list page with grouping, and the grouping was messed up on my phone.
Can you let us know what version to look out for? I have Version 4.10.1 but do not have access to the interfaces. Thank you for this update! So very needed!
(Android)
Wow. This came out so much sooner than I expect. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I can't believe it.
@Patti_Lo
Thank you, this looks and sounds very promising. Is there any timeline for an Android version?
Any plans on giving some love to the 'Lists' mobile view page?
I currently use checkboxes quite a bit in the Lists view, and they just stack on top of each other so I can't really do much with it other than click into the record.
Would be really nice to be able to use it as a traditional 'todo' list
You added drag and drop back to sidesheets! That was one of my biggest gripes with the new sidesheets! Thank you so much!
I don't know how much feedback you want, and I don't know where to put it, but I'll list it below for your perusal, if you're interested. This will all pertain to mobile interfaces.
When opening what was the 'sidesheet', I have the following notes:
- calendar views are not working
- galleries are not showing
- can't hide field titles of long text fields
- Will number fields to sum up linked record fields make a return?
- with attachment fields, hero mobile view of image is not working. It shows the images and image name in tiny squares.
- with card view and 'allow users to link/unlink existing people' enabled, I am unable to link/unlink as suggested
- can we add the same field multiple times?
- To close an opened record, can we swipe down or to the side? The 'x' to close is so high up.
In the 'form' view, when linking a new record to a linked record field, you can't customize the fields shown. The fields shown are random. I'm pretty sure this is still an issue on desktop, and is a privacy concern as it often seems to select the collaborators field which I try to filter out.
On the 'gallery' template page, is it possible to disable fullscreen'ing the image itself when clicking on the image? I'd like it to just open the record. I realize this goes against the core design of a 'gallery', but on mobile, there's less space and having to click the title area to open the record feels unintuitive.
- I noticed that you can swipe to open the record from the image, though, and that's interesting, though I don't think it would come to mind for most users, but maybe I'm just old.
'Tab' filters don't take the customized name of the filter (ie. 'All Recipes' is now 'All Records')
The Kanban view is excellent, though the same issues from desktop view are still there. They're just more pronounced on mobile
- can we choose the 'title' of the record like we can on the calendar?
- can we hide uncategorized/empty stacking fields?
On calendar View:
- records are not colored as they are in desktop
- can we have a 3 day or weekly view?
- currently, the only usable view is the day view, which is fine, but it's not really a 'calendar' view.
Timeline is not supported? I suppose that's because it's a pro only feature, but it surprised me and thought it would work well on mobile.
Currently, Airtable only allows "single view" interface pages on mobile. My clients would really like to have the other interface pages be a part of the mobile interfaces as well.
In the meantime, until Airtable offers this, I am using Noloco with my Airtable clients, because Noloco offers great interfaces for both desktop and mobile. I even presented a full one-hour webinar on Noloco called Building a Client Portal on Noloco powered by Airtable.
And there are other mobile interface builders for Airtable as well. Some of the most popular ones are: JetAdmin, Softr, Pory, and Glide.
Hope this helps! If you’d like to hire the best Airtable consultant to help you with anything Airtable-related, please feel free to contact me through my website: Airtable consultant — ScottWorld
Wow! Between this and creating linked records in an interface, my wishlist just got slashed!
is it live yet? I still have a message telling me taht I can view only on my desktop using the release 10.
Cant wait to try it 🙂
It's a little buggy but very promising. If we get extensions and custom extensions in Interfaces, I think I'd be ready to begin transitioning most of users to Interfaces only, which is super exciting!
Literally every single one of the interface pages I've created for my team comes up as a blank screen on mobile. Are lists and custom designed pages (rather than the interface templates) not supported?
To do this right, I think there needs to be a more robust interface designer where we can customize layouts for mobile as well as desktop.
I can't believe in the year 2023 a large, established company would release significant new mobile features exclusively on the iOS platform.
Edited to elaborate: We're a BYOD organization. We don't control what mobile devices our staffers use. As noted above by other commenters, mobile access to interfaces is what we've been waiting for, so we can move our users out of our bases and give them access exclusively to the specific interfaces they need for their individual job functions. If only a portion of our team can access mobile interfaces, our organization as a whole can't move forward with restructuring and expanding our bases in the way we need to.
Hi there, I am thrilled with the new ability to view interfaces on mobile - our team was waiting for this and it's available much faster than I expected! Quick question... in a List layout, I can only see one of my dropdown filters... any idea why that is?
Thanks for all the feedback! Hopefully this addresses some of the questions:
- Navigation: You can navigate to your interfaces from the base by tapping the icon in the upper right corner next to the base name
- Checkbox fields: In List view, if you set up a prefix field with a checkbox field, you can check and uncheck that checkbox directly from the list on mobile
- Dropdown filters: If you’re not seeing a dropdown filter, it is likely a filter for Linked records; that will be coming!
- Layouts: In this release, we support the full-screen pages for List, Gallery, Calendar, or Kanban layouts. Grouping on List and a Week timescale for Calendar are on the roadmap. Stay tuned for more updates!
- Embedded views: Calendar or gallery views embedded within the record detail (sidesheet) are not fully supported yet
- Android: We’re actively working on Android, but don’t have an exact release date yet
Please correct me if I am wrong, but only *very* simple interfaces can be displayed in the mobile app. The more complex ones are greyed out and marked with an asterisk (whatever that wants to tell me), not possible to be displayed in the mobile app. Working on enterprise plan.

This is an excellent start to a revamp that's been desperately needed! In my testing, I've created a simple shopping list, where the user is to select/deselect items. On my Interface list, I've enabled "Edit records inline"
Within the Browser, it works as you'd expect, I can scroll the list, tick/select and unselect items. Cool! But in the Mobile App, this doesn't appear to work. The IOS app always attempts to open the item (an unwanted behaviour, I want inline editing, not open-up editing) where it then offers the same select toggle that I'm trying to deselect, but it's greyed out - so I can't even action the item from my device.
It's most annoying.
What I do like though is the swipe-ability of the List View within the mobile app.👍
If the functionality to edit records inline via mobile app is addressed (as in, I have a shopping list, I just want to tick/untick entries and have them sort accordingly - and not open up entries whilst I'm busy shopping) then this will be a game changer. But unfortunately, I can't use it in its current state.
Will there ever be a responsive editor? Just like a website editor (Elementor for example), you can edit a page for desktop, or edit a page for mobile.
On interfaces on desktop if there was a button to switch back and forth between mobile interface editor and desktop interface editor, that’d have the most flexibility.
Just wanted to mention:
Possible bug: required fields are not consistently enforced on mobile interface forms. For some forms they do appear on mobile, on others they do not. Can submit a completely blank form with required fields - no asterisks or errors. Can't find a pattern as to why. Have tried enabling/disabling different required fields and killing/restarting the Airtable app, but some forms work and others don't.
Overall though mobile interfaces are a great addition to Airtable. We're working on ending our subscriptions with external services like Stacker and solely using Airtable (and increasing our billable users in the process). We were on the fence about staying with Airtable at all in the long run, but interfaces were a game changer. Great work!
I can see the list of interfaces now, but if I try to click into any of them I get a "This page is not supported on mobile, go to Desktop to view" error. Am I missing something?
@Patti_Lo
Like @Dennis_Petrou mentioned, I can see the list of interfaces now, but if I try to click into any of them I get a "This page is not supported on mobile, go to Desktop to view" error. Will I have to recreate all my interfaces in order to make them accessible on mobile?!?
@Leslie_Burke @Dennis_Petrou
Mobile interfaces currently only work with the table-based interfaces (List, Gallery, Kanban, Calendar), but not Timeline.
Custom designed pages are not currently available. I'm assuming they'll make a return, but in a manner similar to the new sidesheets.
@Joseph_Roza That may be, but I have a Gallery interface that only shows a tiny sliver of pictures. See the screenshots below to compare how it appears on desktop vs. mobile. When you scroll down on mobile, it scrolls through a tiny sliver of each picture. I'm so glad that interfaces are coming to mobile, but I would have preferred to wait a bit longer and get a fully baked version.

@Leslie_Burke Interesting! I run into the tiny sliver of pictures issue with my sidesheets on mobile, but not the gallery only page. Either way, I have seen something similar. It's very 'beta'.
BUG: Record details appear to 'stack' on top of each other during record detail inception (haha). ie. open one record detail sidesheet, then open another record detail sidesheet within that sidesheet.
I can see features from the bottom of the previous sidesheet on the new sidesheet.
Beginning to wonder if Airtable even tests these things before rolling them out.
