Is there any chance we’ll be getting a record count for Interface list views similar to what we have in data layer grid views?

Even better would be an option to have it at the top of the list.

you could add a autonumber field if you’d like to see the record count

If you group by a field where the value is the same across all records (if you don’t have a field where this condition works, you can just create a new checkbox field and group by that, since every record will have the checkbox unchecked), you’ll get the record count at the top. I threw a screenshot below to show what it looks like, albeit using a different field type.

Maybe not the cleanest solution, but should serve as a workaround for the time being.

Record count appears to the right of a Group in List view

Hey everyone! There have been a lot of creative ideas here on how to show record counts in a List View interface, and I wanted to add a quick suggestion that might help.

@AviC, thanks  for the autonumber idea. It’s a nice, quick fix, but it’s not the most user-friendly approach. Since autonumbers don’t update when you remove records, it can get a bit inaccurate over time and might confuse some users.

@stagandforge, your grouping trick is great. Grouping by a common field definitely works to show counts, but it’s not the most polished look. It can feel a bit out of place in a List View if you’re aiming for a clean and minimal interface. It its definitely the way to go if all you need is to have the record count at the top.

Now, here’s my workaround. It’s a bit more of a structured solution, but it does have its benefits. You set up a two-level List View. At the top level, you have a container record from another table that all your records link to. This container can display a count field of all linked records. Below that, you display your actual List View records. So you get a neat, clean count right at the top without any extra clutter. You can also add additional summary data on that top level record.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

@Darryl_Oliver

Please submit your feature request to improve the list views & list interfaces at this link:
https://community.airtable.com/p/product-ideas

Similar to your request, I recently submitted this request:

“Can you please give us the ability to get totals at the bottom of list views (and at the bottom of GROUPS in list views)? Currently, this is only available in grid views, but dashboard interfaces don’t let us add grid views. Thank you!”

PLEASE submit this as feature request as suggested by Scott above. This has been discussed multiple times in different posts, and we still do not have this feature :(

Let’s push for it together :D

Different solution to those above, you might want to have both List AND Grid views for your view on the interface. Whenever you need to see the count, you can switch from List to Grid.. (yeah, I know… not ideal!)
