When an approval user creates a document for which an approval workflow is enabled, an approval request must be sent by using the Send Approval Request action on the page.
Sending the approval requests changes the document status to Pending Approval and restricts the record from further usage, providing that it's unapproved. With the Add record restriction response, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central offers support for restricting a record from being posted, being exported as a payment, and being printed as a check.
The response consists of the following steps:
The status of the record, for example, a purchase order, is updated from Open to Pending Approval and remains locked for processing until all approvers have approved the record.
The approval request is created. How the request must be processed is determined through the response options on the workflow.
The approval request is sent. This action generates Approval Request Entries and, depending on the approver, you are notified by mail or through notes.
You can access the Approval Request Entries page to check the status of the approval requests.
By selecting the Delegate action, you can delegate open approval requests to another approver.
