Hi everyone! I'm AP, a Product Manager at Airtable working on some of our strategic portfolio management features. Over the past several months we've shipped a set of upgrades to timelines, date dependencies, and duration fields that make Airtable a much stronger home for managing real projects and portfolios. Here's what's new, with a few examples of where each one helps. Nested timelinesYour projects are hierarchies, and now your project timeline is too. You can nest tasks inside other tasks, up to 7 levels deep, then collapse a parent task down to a single bar or expand it to see every sub-task underneath. It's the same nesting and the same depth you already have in List View, so a plan reads the same way wherever you're working. Say you're building a home. A parent task like Concrete Work can roll up its sub-tasks, and each of those can break down further into the individual steps, like placing rebar, pouring footings, and curing the slab. On the Timeline, collapse Concrete Work to
Hi everyone,You can now build and manage Airtable automations from AI assistants connected to Airtable’s MCP server. Connect Airtable to Claude, ChatGPT, or another MCP-compatible tool, then describe the workflow you want in plain language. Your assistant can configure the trigger, actions, conditions, and dynamic data for you—without setting up every step by hand.Agents can build complex workflows with branching logic, repeating groups, and data passed between steps—so you can put AI to work on even your most advanced automations. What can your agent do?Create automations with conditional and repeating groups, including nested groups Configure field values across supported triggers and actions Use dynamic data and token functions (such as Uppercase and Trim) List and review the automations in a base Read, update, and delete existing automationsFor example, you could ask your assistant to:“When a new request is submitted, route it based on priority, assign an owner, and notify the righ

Hey Airtable Community,We're excited to share that threaded replies are now available across the Airtable Community!Example in actionWhat's changed? You can now reply directly to a specific reply in any topic — not just the original post. This means related back-and-forth stays together instead of getting lost in a long, linear comment thread. How it worksReply to any reply. See a response you want to follow up on? Hit reply on that specific comment to start a thread beneath it. Threads nest up to three levels. If you reply to a third-level comment, your response will appear as a second-level reply with an automatic @mention of the person you're responding to so the conversation always stays connected. Easy to navigate. Nested replies are sorted oldest-first so the conversation reads naturally, and a "Show more replies" option keeps longer threads tidy. Why it mattersIf you've ever scrolled through a busy topic trying to figure out who was responding to what, this one's for you. Threade
Hi everyone,Two quality-of-life improvements just landed in Automations, both aimed at making it easier to pass data from one step of your automation to the next. Insert as JSONWhen you're inserting dynamic data into a later action, you've always been able to pull in individual values one at a time. Now there's a faster option: you can insert a whole group of related data at once with the new "Insert as JSON" token. This works for both a single group of details (an object) and a list of items (an array). This is especially handy when you're working with data that has a lot of nested detail, like the response from an incoming webhook trigger or the output of a "Generate structured data" action. Instead of drilling in and picking each property by hand, you can grab the whole thing in one step. You'll see one of two versions, depending on where you're inserting it:**Insert as JSON string** — appears when you're inserting into a text field. **Insert as JSON data** — appears for inputs on the

For a while now, our community groups have gone by a pretty functional name: user groups. It got the job done, but it never quite captured what these communities actually are. They're tight-knit groups of builders who show up for each other, share what they know, and genuinely make each other better at what they do.So we're giving them a name that fits: Builder Crews 🎉Same people, same energy, same peer-to-peer spirit. Just a name that actually sounds like something you'd want to be part of! What's a Builder Crew?Builder Crews are member-led communities organized around a city, industry, language, or region. Whether you're in Boston or São Paulo, working in nonprofits or media, or just looking for other Airtable builders who speak your language, there's a Builder Crew for you. And if there isn't one yet, that's a conversation worth having! Each Builder Crew is run by volunteer leads who plan events, spark conversations, and keep the community moving. They're peer communities built on o

While hundreds of Airtable builders were gathering in New York City for the first ever Airtable Buildathon, hundreds of you were also working hard virtually on your community hackathon submissions! Our second community-led hackathon’s theme was “Let’s Play,” and showed us anything is possible when you mix Airtable, creativity, and a bit of mischief 💫😉Participants competed across three categories: Airtable AI: Recognizing the best use of AI features (selected by Alex McDonnell, @alexmcdonnell, Airtable’s Director, Product Marketing) Grand Jury: Selected by a committee of top Airtable builders Basefluencer: Awarded to the most-liked video on YouTubeFirst, a big shout out to @Mike_AutomaticN who organized this special event again for the community, and finally, without further ado, let's celebrate our winners: Airtable AI Winner: "Friends with Airtable" by Lisa Bauer (@itslisabauer) Friends with Airtable is an educational RPG game designed to rid any initial fear of learning a new too
Hi everyone, Duretti here from the Airtable Product team.Today we're excited to announce the open beta of the Airtable Interface extensions SDK! This powerful toolkit lets developers create custom extensions that remix Airtable's functionality in entirely new ways. The Interface Extensions SDK puts the power of custom development directly in your hands. Why we built itJust like we've seen with our recent AI-Generated Interface Elements, our builder community constantly amazes us by pushing the boundaries of what's possible with Airtable. While our AI tools can generate interfaces from simple prompts, the Interface Extensions SDK gives technical builders the ultimate flexibility to create precisely what they envision through code. The Interface Extensions SDK bridges the gap between Airtable's powerful data management capabilities and your unique business needs that require custom functionality. What you can buildThe possibilities are endless, but here are some examples of what builders h
Hey everyone -- huge milestone alert to share with all of you!As of June, over 10,000 certifications have been earned through Airtable Academy. Every single one represents real skills applied to real work, whether that's building your first automation, architecting a multi-table base for your team, kickstarting your AI fluency journey, or mastering AI features like Omni, Field Agents, and the Airtable MCP.We want to celebrate this milestone with the people who made it happen: you.But the number that matters to me isn't really 10,000. It's the stories behind each one. A certification is a piece of paper (well, a digital badge), but what it unlocked for you is the actual payoff. And I'd rather hear that from you than assume it.So, if you've earned a certification with Airtable Academy, tell us what happened next. A few things I'm genuinely curious about, but don't let these limit you:Did it unlock something in your apps? A build you wouldn't have attempted before, an automation you final

Hi everyone,I'm Akshar Patel (AP), a Product Manager here at Airtable. Today I'm sharing a new way to edit records on record detail pages in interfaces: Form editing.Until now, record detail pages supported inline editing where users click into fields and update values directly on the page. That works great for quick updates, but if you've ever wanted more structure around how data gets changed, things like validation rules, a controlled set of fields, a clear submit action, inline editing doesn't quite get you there. Now it can. Introducing Form editing for record detail pages When you enable Form editing, an "Edit" button appears on the record detail page. When a user clicks it, a customizable form opens in a modal. They make their changes, and submit them all at once. The record detail page itself stays read-only — all editing happens through the form. This gives you full control over the editing experience. Why this mattersData validation: Set rules that submitted values must meet be

Hi everyone, I'm Akshar Patel (AP), a Product Manager here at Airtable. As we close out Q1, I wanted to share a few quality of life improvements we've been working on. These are the kinds of updates that make your Airtable experience meaningfully better every day. Comment Resolution & File AttachmentsEarlier this quarter we launched the ability to resolve comments and attach files to comments on records. Now, we're bringing those same capabilities to our proofing viewer (attachments set to “versions” mode). If your team reviews creative assets in Airtable, you can now resolve comments and attach files directly within the attachment viewer keeping all your feedback organized and actionable right where the review happens. We just launched Superagent, and I'm excited to share what we've been building.Hopefully you have seen by now that we just launched Airtable’s first standalone product, Superagent. I am the co-founder and CEO of Superagent, which is an evolution of the acquisition of DeepSky last fall. Most AI agents hit a wall when you ask them to tackle the kind of work that normally takes a team weeks to complete—comprehensive market research, competitive intelligence that tracks evolving landscapes, financial modeling that requires coordinating multiple analytical threads. They either get lost in their own complexity or produce surface-level summaries that miss what actually matters.Superagent is different because it thinks like an organization, not like a single analyst grinding through a checklist. Instead of cramming everything into one context window and hoping for the best, it builds a knowledge graph around business intent. Every piece of research knows why it exists, what goal it serves, and
