Hello there!There's been a lot of talk about AI agent and MCP servers lately. I decided to cut through the buzz and figure out what if it can do something useful for my work with Airtable. I decided to spend a weekend researching this and honestly got frustrated with how not user friendly it all was. Make introduced MCP servers - but it was not very useful. Zapier was pretty good, but did not have ability to create tables and fields.There were 2 code projects for Airtable MCP servers (project 1, project 2). I can code but most of my clients or my channel viewers at first mention of installing coding environment locally will just check out. After some more digging I found a way how to set up remote MCP server that can be connected to a chat client (with Claude.ai being the most user friendly now) . The Long Text field in Airtable is currently way too small. It was previously possible to expand the size of the long text field to make it easier to read…. long text….I wish that they would bring back the option to resize this field so that it wasn’t such a pain to use. If resizing isn’t possible to bring back, then I wish that they would either:1) Expand the default size significantly;2) Allow users to make the long text field full screen; or3) Make the Long Text input box responsive so that it increases and decreases in size based on the amount of long text that is in the field.This would prevent users from having to constantly scroll to see long text in the long text field. We don’t need this to be as feature friendly as a full scale text editor (although that would also be great), but it should at least allow you to easily see the long text that is in this field without having to scroll for hours. It’s a huge pain to use for long text in its current form. So much wasted space!!!
Hi,UMI FUND are looking for some short term support to improve the functionality of our CRM on AT. We’ve set much of it up and been using it for over a year but have some needs to polish the processes and production of analysis so it works better for us. We don’t have a huge number of contacts / records so don’t foresee it taking a long time. I am currently using the Microsoft Suite and Google Suite for my business but I am now looking for a tool that can do it all in one platform. YES! Yes, yes, yes! They are finally here!!! Airtable is a relational database. As such, it allows you to link records from one table to record(s) from a different table and keep such relationship on both sides.However, there are interesting use cases in which you’d want to link records from one table to records from the exact same table. For example, you might want to have one unique table for Tasks and handle hierarchy between them (e.g. Parent task, and Sub Task(s)).When creating a linked record field to its own table, you would have seen that only one field was created (the one you did manually). You would call this field Child Tasks for example, and link through it the child tasks to any parent task. However, the inverse relationship (backlink) would not be tracked anyway -meaning which are the parent tasks for each child tasks. To such effect we used to have to create yet an additional linked record field to the same Tasks table, and create all sort of nasty automations and scrip

My client just spent 5 minutes raving about how a small fix genuinely improved the quality of life for their staff. So thought to share.They run a medical services biz. For managing charts, appointments, etc., they use "Jane," which is super HIPAA compliant (so no API, of course). For the extra workflows Jane can't do, they export PHI-stripped data to Airtable weekly and also use Asana for patient-specific tasks.The problem? Practitioners in Jane needing to see Asana tasks for a patient had this annoying little dance: copy PatientUID from Jane URL, tab over to Asana, paste, search, pray. Took barely a minute, sure, but multiply that by X times a day... and it becomes a real point of friction in their workflow!So, I figured there had to be a no-code way. We have a lot of information to view when we click on a record to view its details. I find myself scrolling up and down a lot looking for the exact group I need. It would be very helpful if there was a way to easily jump to a group in the interface. Or at the very least, make the groups collapsible so they’re easier to view and expand.What do you think? Hello, I am a dog trainer who does in home private sessions (sold in packages of 3,5, 7 and 9 sessions).I am looking for a way to keep track of where I am with each client (how many lessons have they used/ how many lessons are left?). I also need a way to keep track if I have sent a follow up email after each sessions. I got the idea of Airtable after ChatGPT gave me an example of this base, but alas, the AI cannot create said base. I also need a real person I can tweak things with. I tried to do it myself, I get frustrated not being familiar with AirTable. I will provide more specifics, but this is pretty much it.
I’ve used Airtable to run a couple RPG games and it’s really great. Being able to have a view for my players to look at where I can post images of NPCs or notes is terrific. Here’s how I created the base (this is a Forbidden lands game). And here’s what players can see. It’s challenging to create hidden views that actually show the information I want to share. Hopefully someday there is another step for linked records that allow for a cleaner format.

Here’s a topic that was looking for a good answer on this, and one that gives an answer that I think can be improved upon: Rolling Customer Number Based On Year Base design I need to create a customer number that includes the year, and an accruing customer number. E.g. 2020-0001, 2020-0002, etc. The thing is, every year, the year has to change in the customer number, and the four numbers after it have to reset. So if the last number of 2020 is 2020-1234, the first number of 2021 will be 2021-0001 again. I can get the year from the Created Time field The problem is the numbers after the year… I figure I can’t use an autonumber because it won’t reset each year. …

Hey all,Looking for an expert-level Airtable freelancer to work with on an ongoing basis, who has at least 5-10 hours/week available.I set up our ERP for manufacturing on Airtable (we are in alcohol/spirits/ready to drink), and it works really well.
