I didn’t know what Airtable was until Claude told me about it and now I run most of my business dashboards off of it. And I’m using the free version!
One of the most powerful things I did was create my own freelance gig/full-time job board. I’m a 20-year career writer who was laid off twice in two years. I was on the market for nearly a year before I found any kind of employment. During that time, I was endlessly scrolling jobs on job boards and in my inbox, wasting an honestly insane amount of time sifting through crap.
I started trying to problem-solve with Claude, which I was really just beginning to learn how to use. I ended up setting a scan in Cowork that would manually check job boards daily and deliver the most relevant gigs based on my pay floor, location, and experience. That got kind of unwieldy. Enter Airtable. Now I have a dashboard that pulls from a dozen different gig sources into Airtable using Apps Script (LinkedIn, for example, has no connectors and boots bots so Apps Script scans my Gmail inbox for LinkedIn digests), Connectors, and general search. Claude scans the gigs that pull into Airtable, marks the ones that don’t fit me as passes, and floats up the 5-6 a day that make sense for me.
I like the system so much that I even wrote a book about how to do it! (All of my book marketing activities are also hosted in Airtable, including an entry for sharing my success with this community 😂.)
Thank you Airtable! You’ve really helped me established my own business.
