Manual reordering of records in Interfaces

Hi! I’m building an internal interface for my team to manage tasks. While I love the clean look of Interfaces, it’s frustrating that we can’t manually reorder records (drag-and-drop) within a list or table.In the base view, we can reorder records manually, but in Interfaces we’re stuck with sorting rules or creation order, and new records always go to the bottom.For teams using Interfaces to manage workflows (without exposing the full base), this feature would be incredibly helpful.Are there any plans to enable manual ordering or drag-and-drop within Interfaces in the near future?Thanks!

Interface Dropdown for Week Number

Hello, I have built an interface on top of a table. Within this table I have dates and I have put a column formula to get the week number. I've created a chart in the interface and I'd like a drop-down that filters by the week number but currently only allows me to filter by the date. Please help.

What is "field text color" in list interface?

I’m currently editing a list interface, and under “appearance” there is the normal record coloring, and then there is something called “field text color:” Does anyone know what this is and how to use it?I’ve attached a photo of what I’m talking about

Create an interface record detail pages based on the grid/list

Hi,Is there a way that I can create an interface’s record detail page that auto populates the fields and their order, based on that corresponding grid/list? I’m familiar with the various layouts of the record detail pages that can be saved, duplicated, edited, etc. But it would be really helpful if a new record detail page could automatically be created based on that current grid and/or list view, without the builder having to create that new layout every time.Thanks for any tips!

Interface unnamed link record issue

Airtable has two nice features:In Interfaces you can launch a “Create Record Form” from an existing record and it will pre-populate the “parent” record value in the appropriate field. In Data Tables when using a Link field (to another table) you can specify a filter, to limit which records are displayed. However, these two features do not appear to be compatible 🙁 Worked Example:I have a Team Placement table, which links People records to Team records. I have an interface which lists the current Teams, from the record view I can launch the “Create Team Placement” form and the Team field is pre-populated. However, I want to have a filter on the table level to only allow “Active” Teams to be selectable. When I add this filter at the table field level and then re-launch the “Create Team Placement” form, this time the Team field is pre-populated with "Unnamed team” - even though the Team that should be pre-populated is “Active”. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Best way to capture and search for multiple numeric ranges

I have a database of models and all their various measurements. Some key measurements are captured as a pseudo-range, meaning there are a pair of number fields to capture the low and high end of the range, as shown below:Height (1 number field) Bust, Bust+ (2 number fields)  Waist, Waist+ (2 number fields) Hip, Hip+ (2 number fields)(Note: not all models have a pair of measurements recorded) Now let’s say I want to search for models that fit specific parameters...If I’m just looking for a single measurement range (of which there is a min/max pair), then the filter looks something like this:  Simple enough.However this becomes a royal PITA to build a custom filter to search for a combination of dozen other measurement parameters (of which the measurements being searched also change. Sometimes bust/waist/hip, sometimes height/gender/weight, sometimes age/gender)The best I could do to minimize the work involved for my client to create a custom filter is to build a List interface page that

Interface not showing data from second table

Hi all, I’m building an interface to help the tutors at our company guidance students in writing their supplemental essays for college. I have a base with two tables:Table 1: US Colleges (which has a list of US colleges and what they each look for in applicants; the primary field being the college name) Table 2: Supplemental Essays (which has the list of supplemental essays required for each college; the primary field being the essay prompt itself, and there’s a link record field to link each essay prompt to the relevant college in the US Colleges table)The interface I’m building is a Record Review, and I picked Table 1 (US Colleges) as the linked table so that the data can be organized by college.Everything works great when I’m editing the interface, but when I open the public view link, the records from Table 2 (Supplemental Essays) aren’t showing.  How do I fix this? I’ve already allowed syncing for Table 2, but that didn’t solve anything. I’ve included screenshots below to better i

Dashboard Insights for monthly column totals

Hi Everyone.  I have a reseller company selling my products.   I need to pay them rebates every month.I have drawn up a table to track sales as they are made.  It will then also pull through the rebate amount to each month’s column based on the contract start and finish date.I now want to create a dashboard that the reseller and I can view every month to see the total amount of resales for the month.  IE. I want a chart showing each month’s total rebate.  I would also like to setup seperate dashboards showing for example the number of active contracts, how much rebate is owed to each different sales person, etc….Can anyone please assist/guide me with this on how to get the information into a dashboard.  I have created the dashboard similar to this excel file but Just not sure how to pull over the data for insights as I am struggling to get all the months into one chart.

Why can't additional fields be shown when dynamic filters are applied?

I can't wrap my head around this restriction on interface designs. If you have a linked record picker, but the field has a dynamic filter on it, then Airtable will not allow you to show the list of linked records as “cards.” You can only see them as “pills,” i.e. name only, without any additional context from the records’ fields.  I have a field directly above this one where the user can see cards with additional information when they're trying to select the appropriate record to link. I can't figure out any obvious reason why a dynamic filter should create a situation where you would not be able to access and display the fields for those linked records. If it's just a UX design decision on Airtable's part, I don't understand why they would see limiting a user or builder's access to their own data as a good thing. Has anyone else encountered this? I'll probably file a feature request just to see if I can get an answer, but I wondered if anyone else knew the logic behind this move.

Please Upvote: Make Record Picker in Interface Forms More Informative 🙏

Hi everyone,I want to bring attention to a much-needed improvement for the record picker in Interface forms, as originally discussed in this post.Right now, the record picker only shows the primary field, which makes it very difficult to select the correct record when there are similar names. For example, in my school’s internal system, we manage students, courses, homework, and exams. When enrolling students or linking to assignments, we often see multiple records with identical or unclear names—and no way to differentiate them.A simple solution would be the ability to show additional fields (e.g., date, type, ID, or status) in the dropdown menu. This seems like a small change but would greatly improve usability across many use cases.I know Airtable is doing great work with AI and advanced features, which I really appreciate—but I hope the team doesn’t overlook these core UX needs that impact day-to-day use. For some of us, this is genuinely a deal breaker.If you agree, please upvote

How to Visually Group Record Pickers by Table in Interface Designer?

After creating a Blank interface, I used "Add element" to add record-pickers for tables A, B, C, and D, as shown in the image. For each table, I arranged the relevant fields vertically.What I want to achieve is to visually group the vertically arranged sections for tables A, B, C, and D. I think just giving each section a different background color would be enough.However, it seems that such a basic feature doesn’t exist, so I’m wondering if I might be missing something.Thank you!

View extensions in Interfaces

Hello: I'm wondering if anyone has figured out any clever ways to get what's in an extension onto an interface. We have a couple custom-built extensions that we'd like to display on interfaces so we can leverage the interface permissions. Right now, we have to open up our entire base to someone in order for them to view the extension. Any ideas on workarounds or how you may have managed to display extension data on an interface. Below is a screenshot of what one extension looks like.

Using a form to update multiple tables for an order tracker/invoice generator

Hello!I am hoping someone can help. I am trying to create an order entry/invoice database where I can track customers, products offered, sales, contracts with vendors, etc. My main priority right now is tracking product sales by unit/# of customers. I have a database set up right now with the basic - Product, Customers, Line Items (customers can order multiples products and qtys of each), and invoice tab to generate the invoice number and collect data to use for the page designer extension so I can send a PDF invoice with the data stored in airtable. I followed one of GAP consulting's videos to set it up. The issue I have is there is no streamlined way to set this up for ease of use. BC the data is stored across multiple tables you need to go to each table in a specific order to enter the data. It is not intuitive for the person I am setting this database up for. I tried to use forms to make it easier, however, to enter a new order you need to go to multiple forms in order to update in

"Invalid Permissions" error on Android phones for Interfaces

Hi All,we keep getting the error message “Invalid permissions” on the Airtable app on Android phones when trying to view our Interfaces. Everything worked just fine for months. The users on the phones do have access to the Interfaces, as per our settings.Weirdly, the error can be circumvented when accessing the same Interface through a direct link that we click from outside the Airtable app. We re-started the phone, cleared the cache, uninstalled&installed the app. None of those helped.Has anyone experienced this before and is there a recommended solution?

Interace limitations? changing button text and fields visibility went to zero if a filter is applied?

Hello all, Basically I have a form to link working units and owners: For some reason the “+” button on the Owner side is displaying “Add unit” and I can’t figure out how to change it to something more accurate (Add robot). Do I need to rebuild the table and change the name of how I will call each record? Secondly, I just noticed (probably I did it in the past but I forgot to follow it up) that the visibility of the fields is limited once I applied a filterIn other words, with this setup…  As soon as I enter parameters on the “filter”, I see “0 visible fields” on the fields option. That limits the visibility to end user when is trying to attach/link an option after clicking in the button, no idea if there is a workaround to avoid this behavior.The filter contains a couple of rules to limit the options displayed based on the “current’s user email” which is strictly needed. As an example, in the opposite side… if I remove the filters... It seems to be by design, but, any alternative aroun

User-independend record seletion in interface

I have a main table with records, and linked tables with linked records, they are readable using an interface. I want to enable independend Airtable users to select specific records from those tables, to export or print that selection. They need to be able to do this independently, so one user should be able to select records without those records also being selected for another user.

Error message on interface for some users

Hi All,there is an issue for some users I invited to use my interface. An error message pops up for them when clicking in one of the tabs. They are all read only users with NO access to the base. That specific tab is created using the new interface templates, where you can switch between views: list or gallery. Error message:An error has occurredSorry, your request conflicted with another change.Thank you in advance!

Unable to apply a filter on an interface anymore

We have an interface where previously (before UI change) we were able to apply a filter to limit the data that was shown but now when you try to add a condition it just shows the hover “Cannot filter on fields”

Interface - Image size restrictions

While building a custom interface in Airtable, I wanted to display smaller images—something like a profile picture in a small circle. But I noticed there’s no way to resize the image component. It either shows up full-size or doesn't fit the layout the way I want.Is there any possible way?

Anyone else experiencing functionality bugs for interfaces since new UI roll out?

Hi all -- I’m see a number of functional bugs in my dashboard interfaces, including “ghost” so-call “element” data sources, as well as disappearance of linked field dynamic filtering for dropdowns. It was working fine before the roll-out came to me today, but it’s been a bit catty-wompus ever since. Am I the only one? Bueller?

Help with interface not recognising a field

Hey AT brains trust, I'm at my wits end attempting to get this interface to simply filter to show me my un-approved expenses. This is for our Base to manage all org expenses, which each FY I duplicate, turn old automations off and new ones on, rename to current FY, recolour and a little bit of renaming inbudget areas. An interface we rely heavily on is sending me this error message.The field is single select and has not changed The filter is specific and again very simple, we want to see unapproved expensesI have copied the field and used that, I have duplicated the base, I have reentered the filters and have had no luck and am losing my brain. The previous FY still works but nothing has changed in this area.Please help

Is the Interface Visibility function really Business Tier worthy?

The decision to lock the Visibility function of fields in interfaces to business accounts is unfortunate. Of all the upgrades that going from Teams to Business grants, this is the most arbitrary one. The ability to turn off fields is a simple quality of life function that no one is going to be upgrading to get, it's a punitive measure against those of us who are not as well funded.The poorest organizations using teams are also those that typically will most need the Visibility function in interfaces. They will generally have the lower paid or more transient staff that turning off fields and buttons will prove most crucial for.Case in point, non-profits will often have volunteers who can greatly benefit from not being able to see or interact with functions until other steps have been taken or not taken. Airtable has chosen to doubly hit those organizations by giving no discount to them at the business level and turning off a key feature that they would benefit from in getting them to th

New Gallery Improvements - Turn off click to view image

I'm working on a few projects that are using a gallery view, one of which is a publicly shared interface. I'm excited about the changes, but have a question about one of the new features. My users have noted the change immediately of getting the expanded image rather than going to the record detail. Does anyone know of a way to turn off this feature?Thank you!
