Using Interface Filters for Automation Find Step

Are there any options to filter a list of employees on an interface dashboard layout and then trigger a repeating automation to email only those who match my filters?

I want to be able to specify through filters something like: “only employees who have completed training 1, but not training 2, but also have a last name containing a G” and then email those employees through a button triggered automation. I need to be able to change the filters somewhat often and set the automation to run on different groups of employees.

There isn’t a way to use the filters as a condition for an automation BUT I think you could make a makeshift version within a Blank interface.

  1. Create a checkbox field and expose it in a Grid/List on the Interface.
  2. Filter the records however you’d like.
  3. Once your filters are set, check the box for all visible records. A Grid would probably work best since you can copy/paste the checked value down the column.
  4. Add a Button element that triggers an automation to:
    • Find all records where the checkbox is checked.
    • Run the desired action for those records (e.g., send the email).
    • Uncheck the records once complete so you can reuse the workflow later.

For this solution you’d need to configure the Button element to a specific Dropdown element for it to be able to run an automation. I’d suggest basing it on whatever email template you’d like it to run.

You can use data view filters as a condition for an automation, but not interface filters.

If you have access to the data side, just make a grid or list view called “To Email” or something. You can apply whatever filters you like to that view to create a subset. Then create an automation that triggers on when button is clicked→ Find Records in Table based on view “To Email”→ Repeating Group action to email all records in Found Records list.

So in the end your workflow would be in the data side to filter your list down, then go over to the Interface side and press the button in whatever interface page you want to put it.
