Automation in AirtableI have a Donations table with the field Donor that contains a Single Line Text field with the donor name in it. I have a Summary table that is linked back to the Donations table using the Link Another Record filed with Allow Linking to Multiple Records to be selected. The linked field in the Summary table has a list of Donors from the Donations table. I want to automate the insertion of a new Donor name into the linked field in the summary table when I create a new record in the Donations table.It seems it should be straight froward but I keep running into a problem with figuring out what to select in the Actions section.Trigger = When a record is createdIn Actions:I choose Update Record I Put in a description so I don’t forget whY I did this. Action will run Always Under Table I choose summary table Under Record ID I copied the record id from the table from formula in table. The Summary table is only  record so I just put in a formula in that row. Under Fields I

When, how, and what is not clear at all to me yet, so I wanted to open up the discussion early on to make sure this is really community led.Brainstorming:Format: Virtual (for sure). Synchronous (everyone builds during a given time frame) or asynchronous (projects submitted over a few weeks). Themes: Specific theme (e.g. procurement, marketing ops, nonprofits, etc.), or leave it totally open to “build whatever you enjoy”? Why I think this could be fun: A chance to show off creativity. A way to learn from each other’s builds. An opportunity to meet new peers. A reason to push Airtable to its limits in unusual or inspiring ways (different to the day-to-day work we do for our clients or within our organizations).  Would love to get some input from the usual suspects here, and from any other Airtable enthusiast!​@Scott

Hello all.I’m looking to have a column (field) of field agents run/process once a week on a Monday morning. FYI these agents a prompted to go out to the internet and retrieve x information. There are no automation options specifically to do this - am I missing something or how else can this be achieved?Currently I’m thinking about having an automation that changes a field in each record (say make it today’s date), and that is something the field agent is monitoring to kick it off and run. Feels a bit hacky, but if anyone has better ideas please let me know.

I’m loving interface extensions so far! It’s super easy to get up and running. I have an external website that uses the Airtable API that I think would work much smoother if it were an interface extension and inside AT proper. The only problem is… it’s in Vue, and it’s way too complicated a project to rewrite from scratch in React.Assuming the interface extensions team isn’t planning on making a Vue SDK as well (...unless? 😳), has anyone tried inserting a Vue component into React, specifically inside the Airtable Blocks SDK, where no Vite config file is available?

I need to import the “Resolution” field from Jira Cloud  (Resolved, Won’t Do, Cancelled, etc) -- this is not showing up in the Standard fields, and is not listed on the Help page (https://support.airtable.com/docs/airtable-sync-integration-jira-cloud)Also wondering if there is support yet for custom fields?

I have an interface - created as a blank interface, and I am using  an existing table to enter the info. How do I go about printing this?What I really need is a clear place for me to click into a record and see all the info at once - like a PDF (I should be able to design it, very specifically), I should be able to switch between records very easily, and print easily and neatly. Any ideas? 

I’m wondering how or if a Make or Zapier sync model can detect changes on field types that can’t trigger the ‘last modified’ field that the sync is based on. If no editable fields on the record are ever changed, would the sync detect changes on a rollup field?What’s a best practice way to achieve this?

Hello there!There's been a lot of talk about AI agent and MCP servers lately.  I decided to cut through the buzz and figure out what if it can do something useful for my work with Airtable. I decided to spend a weekend researching this and honestly got frustrated with how not user friendly it all was. Make introduced MCP servers - but it was not very useful. Zapier was pretty good, but did not have ability to create tables and fields.There were 2 code projects for Airtable MCP servers (project 1, project 2). I can code but most of my clients or my channel viewers at first mention of installing coding environment locally will just check out. After some more digging I found a way how to set up remote MCP server that can be connected to a chat client (with Claude.ai being the most user friendly now) . Hey Guys, i wanted to ask if a guest user via Airtable Portals has the possibility to actively work in interfaces and set for example a drop down menuitem to an different value or add comments in a single line text field, which then is updated in the base. Or is the guest user via Portals a read-only access and changes made are only visible for the guest user session? 

Hello, I want to create a food menu, such that customers can view the food items and other details in the gallery view and can order multiple food items at once by submitting. This will streamline process and give a better customer experience. I will provide a tablet or a link to them to make an order; At present, I have the option to give them a form which is not graphical and they have to make any submissions from their table. The data goes into the grid view and is accessed in the kitchen for processing. Thanks

Hello all, I'm looking for some help with a dynamic date filtering challenge in automations.I have a Social Media Metrics table where each record needs to link to all previous records for the same Contact/Platform combination, but only where Date Recorded is before the current record's date.The challenge: Airtable's Find Records action in automations doesn't support dynamic date comparisons (e.g., "Date Recorded < trigger record's Date Recorded"). This means I can't filter to only link previous records—it would link to all records including future ones.I've considered:Manual linking (works but not scalable) MIN/MAX rollup pattern with formula logic (works but still requires the linking step first) External tools like Make.com or scripting (viable but checking if there's a native solution first)Has anyone solved this elegantly within Airtable? Any creative workarounds I'm missing?Thanks in advance!

I was having a problem to share record view for just one record in my airtable. Then I just shared all recordview to my external users. Now because they are opening my shareable view from mobile apps they can not see the right side of the recordview. How can I solve my problem ? I am open to any suggestions. Recrod View is not necessary but I just need to be able to share my record to external users to fill some places in my record (Not creating record, updateing record)

Hi everyone, I have a question about automations and what the best practices are when dealing with external API calls.We have an automation that enriches records by pulling data from Google Maps. Every time a new record is added to the table, a second automation is triggered: it uses an enrichment API to find an email address from the website, verify it, and then update the record.The issue is that this enrichment step takes a few seconds for each record. Because Airtable runs automations one-by-one and queues them, this causes huge backlogs of pending automations, which slows everything down and sometimes causes the system to get stuck or bug out.My question is:What’s the recommended best practice to avoid infinite queues or stuck automations when using external APIs that take a few seconds to respond?Should we batch records? Or is there a better architectural approach?Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I'm working with Airtable Forms and using a single-select field for a Sample ID (which is a number). I'd like users to be able to add a new Sample ID directly from the form if it doesn't already exist, instead of being limited to the existing options.Is there any way to enable this "Add new option" behavior for single-select fields in Airtable Forms? Or would I need a workaround—like using a linked record or setting up an automation—to allow new Sample IDs to be created automatically?Appreciate any guidance
