Creating a calendar/date icon for a date field

Was wondering if anyone had ever come across some resource that can create a calendar icon based on the value of a date field. For instance, if I had a date field that had the value of October 19, then a means of automatically creating an icon like this:
and add that to an attachment field.
Might be a little far-fetched…
