Restoring historic data

This is a really simple question, but is there anyway to restore historic data? We had a form in AT that had drop down options. We had people fill out the form. Then, someone on our team changed the options in that drop down and we lost historic data that people had filled out. Is there a way to find their answers or when we changed the drop down options did that data disappear forever?
