Hi there! I’m Rosalind – a product marketing manager at Airtable focused on helping teams build powerful, custom applications that make work more efficient. Today I’m happy to share more details on the expanded support for dynamic filtering.
With this launch, we're completing the set of field types you can use to dynamically filter results in the linked record picker-- you can now dynamically filter on Single Select, Multiple Select, Date, Formula, Rollup and computed field types.
This feature is available on Teams plans or higher and is being rolled out throughout this week; if you don’t see it reflected in your base just yet, hold tight, you will get the update very soon!
What's new
Single Select and Multiple Select. Dynamically filter linked record selection based on exact string matching of option names between two Single Select or two Multiple Select fields. To configure, first choose a Select field from the linked table as the field being filtered on, then choose a Select field from the current table that contains a subset of the option names available in the other field. For example, the linked table's Select field might have options "Engineer", "Management", "Sales", and "Design", while the current table's Select field could have the exact same options, or a subset of these options, such as "Engineer" and "Design".
Dates. Dynamically filter linked record selection based on comparing two Date fields (including Created Time and Last Modified Time fields) using the "exact date" filter mode.
For example, you could filter available employees to do a task with a condition like "Where <Hire Date> is on or after (exact date) <Task Start Date>". The "exact date" filter mode behaves similarly in dynamic filters as it does in static filters and will compare that the Dates or DateTimes are on the same calendar day in the filter field's timezone.
Formulas, Rollups, and computed fields. Dynamically filter linked record selection based on the result of a Formula, Rollup, Lookup, Created Time, Last Modified Time, Created By, or Last Modified By field.
