Button URL automation problem

I have read a ton of guides and I cannot figure this out! I'm trying to add a button to an email automation that links to an external URL.

I created a Button form field (with URL) to table data and added it to the email automation. But when I generate a preview, the button isn't there it's just the label! (See screenshots)

What am I doing wrong? (Please and THANK YOU)

I've never heard of a button working in an email.

@jodies I have the same problem. I also want to add button to my email. I heard that you just need to design your email with HTML instead of plain text. But I don't know how.
