We use tables to add tasks we’re working on. Since different departments need different information, we use different tables for those departments so they have their own tailored table.

One thing they all have in common is a “Time Estimation” field. In my main table, where we gather our projects, we link out to those task tables.

  • Project 1
    – Design Department Tasks
    – Programming Tasks
    – Animation Tasks

In the project table I’d now like to have a summary of all time estimations for a project from all different departments. Currently it’s a bit of a hassle as I have to create a lookup or rollup field for every table and then add another field with a formula to calculate them together. This only clutters my project table. I’d like to skip one step and have a formula field that can directly access the other tables:

{design department.time estimation}+{programming department.time estimation}

This would de-clutter a lot of tables for us. Is there anything like this on the horizon?

Cheers
Chris
