Importing csv files with 18 digit numbers, doesn't work

  • What I tried to import: 513267577250775049
  • What actually got imported: 513267577250775040
  • Simple terms: The 9 digit at the end of the number, got changed into a 0

The relevant CSV file to import, is below.

name,server id,notes
Ergonomic chair,513267577250775049,
Wooden storage box,,
Wooden pen holder,,

Right, that will need to be your solution for this. Airtable’s number fields can’t handle numbers that large, and you’re not using it as a number anyways (e.g. performing math on it)… you’re using it as an ID.

Are you importing into a number field? Import into a single line text field instead.

It works in text fields but not in number fields.

Additionally, if you need to automatically import CSV data into Airtable without any manual intervention at all, I demonstrate how to to do that on this Airtable podcast episode. It simply requires using Make's CSV automations & integrations for Airtable.
