Concatenate field won't pull into Google Docs

I'm attempting to create an invoice and all fields are pulling in except one. No matter what I do, it isn't being imported into the Google Doc. Here's the formula:

"$" & {Materials to Plain Text} & ".00"

The formula works fine and returns the value I'm looking for in the base, but it won't come into the Google Doc. All other fields are coming in as expected. What might be going on?
