Hey :slightly_smiling_face:

I would like to save sensitive information in AirTable.
Do you know a way to encrypt columns?

Thank you,
Frank

Hi @F_H ,

how exactly do you want to encrypt those information? Do you mean to replace the data and keep the internal values or make a completed replacement ?

Thanks

Welcome to the Airtable community!

If you want to store sensitive data in Airtable, please do so with extreme caution.

Every collaborator on the base, even read-only collaborators, can do all of the following without your knowledge or notification:

  • view all the data in the entire base
  • duplicate all the data in the base
  • share all the data in the base with someone else

Airtable does not have any native method of encrypting data. It is possible to use a custom script to encrypt data. However, keep in mind that if the data was stored in a record at any point, the original data is still visible in the record history.

You could use a script to input data, have the script encrypt the data, then have the script store the encrypted data in a record. However, that encrypted data is not particularly useful. If the base includes a system to unencrypt the data, everyone with access to the base can unencrypt the data.

Hi @Dimitris_Goudis ,

I would like to make complete replacements.
In the best way AirTable should not see the real data at all.

Thanks

Sorry for my second question. Do you plan use those data after replacement? or will you keep them in encrypted version?
