Linking to data in a new table if condition exists?

Is it possible to add data to another table in the same base IF a condition exists? For example, I have a table (CfPs) that lists potential publications (known as CfPs or Call for Proposals). I’d like a call’s description (and potentially other fields) to populate on a “Publications” table IF the status of the call on the CfP table is changed to “Accepted”.
