Lookup Field Formatting

Anyone else noticing an update to newly created lookup fields?
They now retain formatting and functionality of the source field.
i.e single selects will have the correct color, and filtering options of the source select field.
this seems like a huge update but I haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere so i thought I’d post.

For reference, here is a screenshot of identical lookups, one newly created and one old

If memory serves correctly, it was an unannounced update but it has been in place for several months now.

Indeed you are correct, looking at other bases, it seems like it has been around for a while.

Have you tried “migrating” existing lookup columns by simply toggling the column type to something else and back to a lookup?
I would like to do that as opposed simply recreating the fields so as not to mess up existing personal views with hidden columns.
I realized that some conversions work and some don’t and it is related to whether or not the column is used as a filter or group in any of the views.
