Updates that affect dependencies/automations/syncs

I want to change the name of a selection in a single-select field. When I went to do that, the warning of all that will be affected came up: 2 syncs, 12 interfaces, etc. My question is, will this mean I need to go make changes to all of these or will it automatically happen? I'm hesitant to try it w/out knowing the consequences as it affects a great number of things, including automations that a developer set up for us.

It'll automatically happen.  Some examples of places where this might cause an issue would be:
1. Formula fields that reference the select field and are matching against specific text
2. Filters that reference the select field and are matching against specific text
3. Third party tools (Make, Zapier etc) that reference the select field and are matching against specific text

To review the potential consequences you'll need to do a review of all of the places that warning tells you about I'm afraid
