We wanted to share a free, open source template for building a completely custom client portal on Airtable.

07

It comes with:

  • :lock: Logins
  • :paintbrush: A simple UI that you can customize
  • :writing_hand: An example of how to write data back to Airtable

We’ve written up a complete tutorial to walk you step-by-step though how to configure your Airtable base, set up logins, and get your portal working.

The project uses some great new technologies to make this easy to build and deploy:

Here is the full repo. It comes pre-configured to work with Sync Inc - but you can also use Airtable.js if you are more familiar with that approach to building on Airtable.

Hope you find this helpful!

:mega: Update: Now using Stytch for Logins :lock:

We’ve had all sorts of teams and developers use this guide to build custom websites and logins on top of their Airtable base. In the tutorial, you learn how to:

  1. Configure your Airtable base to expose data to the right client or user.
  2. Create a next.js app and use Stytch to add logins.
  3. Make the app interactive!

Since we first wrote the post, Cotter was acquired by Stytch. So we’ve updated the step-by-step guide and code base to now use :magic_wand: Stytch Magic Links :tophat: . A user simply enters their email address, clicks a link, and is logged in to work with their data.

Hope you find this update valuable!
