We're exploring Airtable as a project management tool to be used internally and one of a must-have features is sending alerts to Slack or email, so that respective team members get notified when there is a certain change to the project status, activity, etc. This step is crucial for us as we need to ensure our managers don't miss any deadlines when action is required. I've seen the built-in alerts automation but have yet to test it. Being new to Airtable, I was hoping to hear from fellow users whether this feature performs well and consistently or if it may be worth looking at 3rd party data alert tools? If so, what tools would you recommend exploring?

Yes, it works incredibly well, especially if you use an external automation tool like Make, which offers infinitely more power & infinitely more customizability than Airtable’s built-in automations.
In my personal opinion, the best way to get up-to-speed quickly with Airtable is to work with an expert Airtable consultant like myself. Yeah, the Airtable Slack, email, gmail, etc integrations have all worked pretty well and consistently for me and I haven't found a need for 3rd party stuff
