I'd like to get a slack message whenever an automation run fails, but I don't see any native functionality for this. Has anyone found a workaround to get this done? Thanks!

Airtable's automations don't natively offer a way to trap for errors and then take an action based on those errors.

However, I've setup that exact same thing -- Slack notification of errors -- for several of my Airtable consulting clients by setting up their Airtable automations in Make.

Make offers many different ways of trapping for errors in its automations, and you can have Make do anything that you'd like when an error happens.

One way to trap for errors is to use Make's error handlers, and another way is to create filtered conditional paths (i.e. routers) in make so that Make can do different sorts of things based on different types of errors.

There is a small learning curve with Make, which is why I created this basic navigation video to help. I also provide the links to a few other Make training resources there as well.

p.s. Also, I am an expert Airtable & Make consultant. If you'd like to hire someone to help you with any of this, please feel free to contact me through my website: Airtable consulting — ScottWorld
