Is it possible to link multiple filters to a single grid in an Interface? I have a base with 11 tables; 1 primary table and 10 support tables. In my primary table, I have 31 fields, 10 of which are linked records. I would like to create an interface for my client that will allow for as simple or as complex a query as needed. To explain further:

My primary table is a plant directory. I would like my client to be able to choose a simple query, such as:

All plants that are Red.

I would also like my client to be able to choose a complex query, such as:

All plants that are Red or Orange, Low Maintenance, requires Full Sun, is Fragrant and is Deer Tolerant.

Is there a way in Airtable to be able to accomplish this?

Thank you in advance, Mr. Brad B.

You're using an old interface designer. When you create a new interface make sure you select one of the visualizations like "list".

The ones under "more", Record Summary and Blank, are old layouts that do not have this feature.

Hi Brad, welcome to the community. Yup, this is absolutely possible.

How are you categorizing each plant? Are they all drop-down menus (Single Select Field)? Or is it lookup information from the linked fields?

For your interface, I'd use either a Gallery or List view. Then use the "Dropdown" option in the filters section on the right.

You can then add as many drop-down filters as you'd like. These will look like check boxes so you can have multiple options selected.

The filters will be applied to the list and you can also search for the plants you want with the magnifying glass on the top right.

Let me know if this helps 🙂

Thank you very much for your reply. I have not been able to find this functionality. Is this only available for paid plans? I am still evaluating this tool and I am still working with the free version.

It's available on the Free plan too. This is in the interface builder.

I'll help you find this option step by step 🙂

1. Open up your interfaces and go to "Edit", (Top Left)

If you haven't yet made any interfaces, you'll be straight into step 2.

2. Add a New Page or Interface and select a layout. I'd pick the "List"

3. Select the table you want to display. Yours is the one where you have your plants listed.

3. On the right side is where you'll find the filter options.

Here are some tips on navigating the UI in the future. The right panel is where our customizing options are, but we need to know what specifically we've selected to customize.

There are a few levels of customizing.

  • The whole page
  • A visualization
  • A specific field

The filter options we're talking about are found on the Page level of customization. Often we have the visualization selected and so we see a different set of options. Something like this:

If you want to select the page rather than the visualization, just click on the top selection of the page

I have noticed some differences in the interface you are displaying compared to what I see on my end. I have taken a few screen shots to show you what I mean.

Here is what I see when I have nothing selected:

Nothing Selected.png

This is what I see when I select the list element:

This is the right-side panel when I have the list selected:

Top.png

I'm not able to select the page, only elements on the page (at least not that I've been able to figure out).

I am on a MacBook Air, running MacOS 12.7.5. I can't upgrade any further due to the age of my machine. I don't know if that has something to do with the differences or not. If so, I'll have to wait until I can upgrade my machine.

Thank you very much for your insight.

Thank you for that information. I started from scratch with a blank interface originally. I will remember in the future to choose a visualization.

When I created a new interface, I see the options you displayed earlier in this thread.

Thank you again,
Mr. Brad B.
