I love the question, but I think I need a little more context. Are you thinking about a formula that compares values? Or, is this something more complex?

If you are comparing text in two different cells in the same row/record, you can use a formula field.

• You can test if the cells have exactly the same text with the = operator.
• You can test if one text value is contained within another text value with FIND or SEARCH. Both are documented in the Formula Field Reference.

If you want to compare text in cells across different rows/records, you will need to use a scripting solution.
