Hi Lauren! This was a known issue with v1.6.1 so I'm curious if it might've popped up again with this newest version. As I'm unable to replicate this on my Mac app, as a quick troubleshooting step, could you navigate to the toolbar menu while using the Airtable Mac app, select Airtable, and then Settings? You should see this menu pop up, where I'd suggest that you toggle on Ask where to save each file before downloading.
