Hi Everyone,

I’m experiencing a frustrating issue with a user in my Airtable workspace. I’ve set their seat to Viewer, but I’ve noticed that it occasionally changes to Editor without my intervention. This forces me to periodically check and reset their seat to avoid being charged for an additional Editor seat.

This month, I missed checking for a couple of weeks and ended up with a $400 charge due to the seat change. Airtable’s customer support has been great about refunds, but I’d like to find a solution to prevent this from happening altogether.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Are there any known fixes or preventative measures I can take to ensure the seat stays set as Viewer?

Thanks for your help!

Anybody who is a creator (or owner) can change anyone's permissions, so there is probably somebody else who is changing that read-only user to an editor.

Your best bet would be to downgrade everybody from creators to editors, unless you really need them to be a creator.

You can learn more about permissions in this Airtable support article.

Hope this helps! If you’d like to hire an expert Airtable consultant to help you with anything Airtable-related, please feel free to contact me through my website: Airtable consultant — ScottWorld
