The field type changes when you paste data from Excel

Hey!

I use Airtable to plan a basketball practise. I bring the information for each exercise by pasting it from Excel into the “exercise plan” table for the participating athletes.

When I paste the Excel data into the Airtable, the date field changes to a text field. Can anyone tell me why this is?

I have modified the field types in Excel and Airtable in many different ways, but the problem recurs over and over again.

I have a similar table in another account and this problem doesn’t recur there?

Out of curiosity, are you flat pasting the data straight into your table?

The CSV import app should allow you to easily map the fields during the import.
If I remember correctly, the CSV import app also implements data type coercion using the existing field type.

There are also the table data import tools that exist by opening the table options within the base itself.
