I have figured out the update record action on the automations, but the parameters it asks for is so incredibly vague and unclear, it should be corrected.  It should be something like:

record to update:

field to update:

source record:

source field:,

It allows you to select a record or a field, when it needs a record??????.  I love your platform, but that form (and many like it) are vague to the point of being in the "what were they thinking?" category.

Thanks

Jeff

I think that the inputs for the Update Record action are not as specific as you would like because the input can come from a wider range of values than you are accustomed to.

When identifying the record to update, you need to specify a table and a record ID. That record ID could come from a record, but it could also be a text string in a field, or even a hardcoded value.

The new value for a field could come from a wide variety of places, not just a field in a record. The new value could be a list of values from a Find Records action, it could be a value outputted by a script, it could be the timestamp of when a scheduled automation was run. The new value for a field could even be a record ID.

While there may still be room for improvement in how the configuration screen is setup, any changes would need to take into account the wide range of possible inputs.
