Save forms as drafts

What is the proposed idea/solution?

I'd like to have the ability to save draft forms before sending them and recall them later.

How does is solve the user problems?

A user can start filling out a form, save the answers entered and complete the form at a later time, for example if they need to collect information to be able to answer everything.

Who is the target audience?

Anyone who uses a form to collect complex information, which requires time to fill out or the need to collect additional information.

This is a great feature request!

In the meantime, you can currently get this functionality from Fillout’s advanced forms for Airtable.

Interface forms already do that: if you key in some data, close the tab, then reopen it later your previously keyed in data shows up

Is it that you want the data to be saved even when the user opens the form on another computer or something?

@TheTimeSavingCo   I believe that Interface forms only save the answers temporarily in the cache or through cookies. Unfortunately, they disappear when you clear your browsing data.

@ScottWorld  Thank you as well! I’ve noticed Jotform offers similar functionality, and I’ll definitely check out Fillout too. However, it would be ideal to have more advanced form features like this directly within Airtable to avoid relying on external tools.

Yes, JotForm has save and continue later functionality.

Note that JotForm doesn’t support writing to all Airtable fields, so you may need to use Make’s JotForm integrations and Make’s Airtable integrations to fully get your form data into Airtable.

Also, even more importantly, note that JotForm does not offer live communication with Airtable bases like Fillout does, so Fillout can do advanced tricks like pulling live Airtable data into your forms based on your Airtable base, or easily update Airtable records from a form, or many other advanced Airtable tricks.
