What is the proposed idea/solution? Add a Feature so you can change the background color of cells and whole colums manually or based on condition matching. How does is solve the user problems? Design of Tables and List Views will get more clean and easier to use / navigate. Also Users can color cells based on their content (like positive=green, negative=red, ...) How was this validated? It's basic visual Design theories. Who is the target audience? Nearly everyone, at least every user who needs to navigate through big airtable bases & list views.

What is the proposed idea/solution? Allowing forms to create NEW linked records, rather than only allowing to select from a list of already existing linked records. In other words, the ability for a form to have its Parent form submission, and one or multiple Child form submissions (for the linked records). See Fillout's solution as an example. Dummy scenario: If I want to submit information for a Family (Family table) and for the members of the Family (Members table) which can be one or multiple, I would not be able to do this from only one Airtable Form. I would need to submit one form for the Family information, and separate forms for each Member. How does is solve the user problems? Would avoid having to integrate different softwares, build dirty automations, or handling re-directs, just for the sake of creating linked records. How was this validated? This issue comes up with plenty of my clients, multiple questions have been asked on the Community on how to handle this, and it has been a topic of discussion with fellow builders and consultants. However, I'm not sure whether it has been actually submitted as a "New Idea"/Feature Request (if it was already, I'm super sorry -however it might be useful to bring it up again!). Basically, Airtable forms do not allow to create NEW linked records from the form itself (i.e. we can currently only select from a dropdown of already existing linked records). There are obviously several different workarounds such as: (i) using other form softwares (e.g. Fillout which I really love, but is still a pain to need additional integration just for this); (ii) handling the creation of new linked fields from interfaces rather than forms (i.e. would mean treating the interface itself as a pseudo form); (iii) having temporary fields on the main table which are only used to push data via an automation for the creation of the linked field (super dirty solution which I would almost never recommend); and (iv) others. However, all of those solutions are far from ideal. Who is the target audience? Airtable users who need to capture information via forms for a base with multiple linked tables (I'd say almost every Airtable user). Thanks!!

What is the proposed idea/solution? In interface page layouts, add the ability to collapse groups so that the header is visible but the fields nested beneath are not. An added bonus would be the ability to select whether a group is expanded or collapsed by default in the page template.... How does is solve the user problems? I have several interface page views that are quite long, and not all groups are applicable to all records. Allowing me to collapse the groups that are not relevant would make it easier for me to see and edit the most important information efficiently. How was this validated? This is generally accepted as useful functionality and exists in other places in the Airtable app. Google docs just recently added this functionality as well. Who is the target audience? Anyone using interface page views with many forms/groups

What is the proposed idea/solution? Single and Multi-select linked fields in forms should have a toggle in rules to allow users to add a record. How does is solve the user problems? Cleanly and intuitively allowing form users to add new options which may become new trends. @ScottWorld kindly provided some work-arounds, but the ideal one would be built-in and mirror the UI of adding a record in grid view. How was this validated? Add records in a link to another record field in a form When adding a new record from a form how do I add a new record "on the fly" HELP - Attendance log with add new record option in a form or interface Also my boss was frustrated that it wasn't an option out of the box and we have a project on pause now because of it. Who is the target audience? I think this is a feature that will be used for companies using AirTable for internal processes. In my case our employees encounter new types of customer types and customer issues and I want them to be able to cleanly and intuitively add new options which may become new trends.

It would be nice to optionally enable Clean URLs for Airtable pages. Currently, Airtable urls are basically a random string of characters that give no information on what is at the url. So if I shared an Airtable link with someone, instead of seeing something like https://airtable.com/appdfvokijweroiwdroikj/tbldfvolkfgvlmkvblk/viweiociokjwefn and have no information on what they are about to click on, it would be something like https://mycompany.airtable.com/my-awesome-base/my-great-table/grid-view

What is the proposed idea/solution? I propose the introduction of a new field type named "Location." This field would be specifically designed to handle address inputs more efficiently and accurately in tables and more specifically form fields. The key feature of this field would be its integration with an address autocomplete service, like Google Places API, to assist users in entering correct and standardized addresses. How does is solve the user problems? Enhanced Data Accuracy: Autocomplete would reduce the likelihood of errors and inconsistencies in address data entry, ensuring higher data quality. Improved User Experience: Users would find it easier and faster to input addresses, enhancing the overall usability of forms and databases. Streamlined Data Collection: For applications like CRM, event management, and logistics, where address data is crucial, this feature would streamline data collection and processing. Global Address Coverage: Leveraging a service like Google Places would provide access to a comprehensive and updated global address database. How was this validated? In our specific scenario, we receive engineering service requests from customers and clients through our website. A critical component of efficiently processing these requests is obtaining accurate location addresses. Currently, we find that only about 50% of the addresses submitted are correct. This inefficiency hampers our workflow, as we frequently need to allocate additional time and resources to verify and complete partial or incorrect addresses. Common issues we encounter include misspelled street names, inaccurate street suffixes (such as St., Ln., Dr., Ave.), and missing or erroneous zip codes. Who is the target audience? This feature would be immensely beneficial to any user who relies on storing and utilizing location addresses within Airtable. Given the platform's extensive user base, it's reasonable to assume that this encompasses a significant number of individuals and organizations. ...

What is the proposed idea/solution? This idea proposes more dynamic options for scaling, rotating or providing 'hovering information' for text in Field Headings so they are readable when columns are narrow in Grid View and List Views. Currently text very easily becomes truncated and unreadable. Row height helps with field contents but not Field Headings. Hovering only works if there is a Description in the Field. Note: this idea is essentially requesting behavior that you see in most spreadsheet programs. Here is a typical Grid view... When you shrink the columns it looks like this which is too easily truncated and unreadable... Proposed Idea A: Enable hovering context information for all text whether there is a Description in the Field or not. If there is a Field Description it would be displayed underneath the Field Name in the floating context window. Proposed Idea B: Field Names can be rotated (similar to spreadsheets). Maybe 45 and 90 (as shown below) Field Names and all other text scales down to ~6 point before it begins truncating. Like the 'In Progress' text below Overall make the margins in all fields super tight. Field Row Height can be changed so the text wraps and stacks. (Not shown below but you get the idea) ... How does is solve the user problems? Keeps information readable when trying to conserve screen real-estate. ... How was this validated? Not validated yet. ... Who is the target audience? Creators who are trying to show as much information as possible on the screen while keeping information readable. ...

What is the proposed idea/solution? Please add the ability to request a copy of your responses to the Form builder version of forms. This functionality currently exists in the Form "view" but not for forms built in the Form builder. How does is solve the user problems? This allows users to keep a copy for their own records of forms they have submitted. Our team uses this functionality often from the Form "view" version of Forms, but since Airtable is driving users to use the newer Form builder, it would be nice to see this functionality there as well. How was this validated? Who is the target audience? Airtable builders, Airtable end users

Views are useful, but sometimes a view needs to have lots of information in it regardless to be useful. Side scrollling with dozens of columns can be unwieldy and difficult to navigate (especially as the user adds new columns in different views, and they automatically place them at the end of other views). Colour coding and/or being able to group columns would seemingly be a simple to implement and very useful functionality. Grouping columns would be nice for tabbing between views and being able to move a bunch of columns at once (or unhide a column and have it snap to it's "group").

What is the proposed idea/solution? I would like to see the added options within a Grid View (and also in Interfaces) of the ability to manipulate the order of Linked Records within a Link field. Options including; Sort Records by an associated View within the Linked Table. Sort Records by one or many lookup fields within the Linked Table (such as a date, number, string etc). Sort Records as per their originally linked stack order, but also add a reverse stack option to show the recently added records either first or last. A toggle option that turns off all sort and leaves the current behaviour as is, allowing the user to manually sort records into any random order they desire. If the user toggles a sort on, and then off again, their desired manual sort order returns (and is not lost). How does is solve the user problems? A user can employ a Scripting Extension script or an Automation script action to execute upon their Link Field being updated, where their script applies the desired sort order to the records within the field - but such a workaround is rigid and out of reach of most common users. I believe that having Link Field sort options as part of the Airtable UI would be a widely accepted and used feature. Who is the target audience? Anyone using a Link Field who finds the need to apply order to those linked records within that Link Field.
