What is the proposed idea/solution? In the configuration screen for a linked record field, show the name of the backlink field. This could be either read-only or editable. For same-table links, state that the field is a same-table link and does not have a backlink field. When creating a new linked record field to a different table, state that a backlink field will be created and display the name that will be used (or let the user enter a name for the backlink). How does is solve the user problems? Many novice creators do not realize that a back link field is created when they create a new linked record field. This would let them know. Once users are accustomed to the creation of backlink fields, some are surprised and confused when same table links do not have backlink fields. This would make things clearer for them. Creators often don't think about naming the backlink field, as the default name usually works when there is only one linked between two tables. However, sometimes the default name doesn't work and should be changed, especially when there are multiple links between tables. Showing the name reminds creators to pay attention to the backlink field name. When deleting a linked record field, the backlink field also often needs to be deleted as well (versus hanging around as a single line text field). Showing the name of the backlink field will make creators more aware that they should delete the backlink field, and also make it easier to find the backlink field to delete it. When there are multiple links between tables, especially in legacy bases where backlinks were not named well, it can be difficult to figure out relationships. Although the Base Schema extension shows which linked record fields go together, in a large base, the diagram is a huge tangled mess and too hard to work with. It is also possible to identify backlinks by looking at field data, but this is cumbersome and depends on knowing the data values or having the ability to put in test data. The "Show Dependencies" tool lists the backlink field among all the other field dependencies. This is probably the easiest way to see the name of the backlink field, but the nature of the dependency is not obvious to new users. Scripting is another way of identifying backlinks, but that is also a niche skill. How was this validated? Personal experience maintaining bases. Who is the target audience? People with creator permissions who will be creating and maintaining linked record fields, including both novice and experienced creators.

What is the proposed idea/solution? Linked Records, Lookups and Rollups are currently sorted in the order in which the linked records have been linked. However, this is many times not enough, as we need a different way in which to show the data! The proposed solution is to have a sorting feature within the lookup (or even linked record, or rollup) to show the data differently -e.g. alphabetically. How does is solve the user problems? Will allow users to show their data in a way that makes more sense to the end user. How was this validated? Multiple Community Posts requesting for help/guidance on how to sort such values (which they actually cannot)! Who is the target audience? Users with specific needs on how data is displayed. What is the proposed idea/solution? Add a Feature so you can change the background color of cells and whole colums manually or based on condition matching. How does is solve the user problems? Design of Tables and List Views will get more clean and easier to use / navigate. Also Users can color cells based on their content (like positive=green, negative=red, ...) How was this validated? It's basic visual Design theories. Who is the target audience? Nearly everyone, at least every user who needs to navigate through big airtable bases & list views.

What is the proposed idea/solution? Add a 'Download All' button to attachment fields, which would enable users to download all of the attachments that have been uploaded to a given field in a record. This button could be located next to the current 'Attach File' button. How does is solve the user problems? Currently, you have to download each attachment individually by hovering over the attachment so the download icon appears, click the download icon and then repeat this process for each attachment. This is very time consuming and allows room for error (e.g. accidentally missing an attachment when trying to download all). Who is the target audience? Everyone can benefit from this feature, as it is a fairly useful, basic functionality request that would enhance efficiency. As social media managers, we would use this feature daily and our clients would also benefit from this.

I think a key missing feature is the ability to embed items into an interface. I think this could take one of two (or both) forms. 1. A field that functions kind of like a "document" field. You insert an embed link. When viewed in a base, or in a grid/list view, it just shows as a preview - But when viewed in a record details pane - it translates to a custom sizable-embedded page. Each record's embedded view is based on the link in the field - just like the Button field type. 2. A "hard-coded" form - kind of like the difference between the "button field type" and the buttons you can set up in an interface. In the from-scratch interface builder - there would be a new element type called "Embed" where you could manual populate to with whatever embedded link needed. For example a google doc - or a news feed, etc. This by itself would accomplish half of the ideas that users have been putting forward for new automation triggers and integrations.

With Rating being a type, it should be possible to format look up and formula into a directly into Rating. Right now this is not possible, without the use of Automation even so a rating is a disguised Number. Adding this functionnaly would help application that have to deal with things like community ratings. Because a Rating is Number between 0 and a max rating, the resulting value in a formula should be clamp with 0 as the min and the max rating as the max.

What is the proposed idea/solution? I propose the introduction of a new field type named "Location." This field would be specifically designed to handle address inputs more efficiently and accurately in tables and more specifically form fields. The key feature of this field would be its integration with an address autocomplete service, like Google Places API, to assist users in entering correct and standardized addresses. How does is solve the user problems? Enhanced Data Accuracy: Autocomplete would reduce the likelihood of errors and inconsistencies in address data entry, ensuring higher data quality. Improved User Experience: Users would find it easier and faster to input addresses, enhancing the overall usability of forms and databases. Streamlined Data Collection: For applications like CRM, event management, and logistics, where address data is crucial, this feature would streamline data collection and processing. Global Address Coverage: Leveraging a service like Google Places would provide access to a comprehensive and updated global address database. How was this validated? In our specific scenario, we receive engineering service requests from customers and clients through our website. A critical component of efficiently processing these requests is obtaining accurate location addresses. Currently, we find that only about 50% of the addresses submitted are correct. This inefficiency hampers our workflow, as we frequently need to allocate additional time and resources to verify and complete partial or incorrect addresses. Common issues we encounter include misspelled street names, inaccurate street suffixes (such as St., Ln., Dr., Ave.), and missing or erroneous zip codes. Who is the target audience? This feature would be immensely beneficial to any user who relies on storing and utilizing location addresses within Airtable. Given the platform's extensive user base, it's reasonable to assume that this encompasses a significant number of individuals and organizations. ...

What is the proposed idea/solution? This idea proposes more dynamic options for scaling, rotating or providing 'hovering information' for text in Field Headings so they are readable when columns are narrow in Grid View and List Views. Currently text very easily becomes truncated and unreadable. Row height helps with field contents but not Field Headings. Hovering only works if there is a Description in the Field. Note: this idea is essentially requesting behavior that you see in most spreadsheet programs. Here is a typical Grid view... When you shrink the columns it looks like this which is too easily truncated and unreadable... Proposed Idea A: Enable hovering context information for all text whether there is a Description in the Field or not. If there is a Field Description it would be displayed underneath the Field Name in the floating context window. Proposed Idea B: Field Names can be rotated (similar to spreadsheets). Maybe 45 and 90 (as shown below) Field Names and all other text scales down to ~6 point before it begins truncating. Like the 'In Progress' text below Overall make the margins in all fields super tight. Field Row Height can be changed so the text wraps and stacks. (Not shown below but you get the idea) ... How does is solve the user problems? Keeps information readable when trying to conserve screen real-estate. ... How was this validated? Not validated yet. ... Who is the target audience? Creators who are trying to show as much information as possible on the screen while keeping information readable. ...

Views are useful, but sometimes a view needs to have lots of information in it regardless to be useful. Side scrollling with dozens of columns can be unwieldy and difficult to navigate (especially as the user adds new columns in different views, and they automatically place them at the end of other views). Colour coding and/or being able to group columns would seemingly be a simple to implement and very useful functionality. Grouping columns would be nice for tabbing between views and being able to move a bunch of columns at once (or unhide a column and have it snap to it's "group").

To whom it may concern, An enhancement suggestion from Kalypso: Type and Buffer, currently only available to update in Timeline view, should be part of the Date Dependencies required fields and thus available for update in other views and/or with Automations. Expected Benefits: Ability to configure all elements of date dependencies in any view Enable ability to use Type and Buffer fields as Automation triggers or targets of automation updates Please consider adding this capability. Regards, Jason Knighten
