The Free Version of Airtable continues to be degraded to the point that it now feels more like a trial than a free option. The addition of an annoying pop-up to subscribe is my last straw. I am not a free user. I've been a fan of Airtable for many years, introduced it to hundreds and interacted with thousands through many different use cases I've created. I'm such a fan that I've talked with everyone from teens to top tier executives in showing them how Airtable could be of use to them. I've created bases for countless people, most of them business owners. As a business owner myself I enjoy what I've been able to do and love showing others what they can do. I've stopped doing that. The free version of Airtable has become so disagreeable and degraded that I don't feel confident I can do something worthwhile to demonstrate its use. The last time I really showed Airtable to someone I promised big and failed completely. I bought a couple rats from a breeder and had some quick thoughts on how to make tracking her lineages and sharing rat pictures online easy with Airtable. I asked if she'd like me to put something together and she was enthusiastic to see what I suggested. I failed completely. Linking bases had been disabled in the free version had been removed since the last time I tried it with the free version, and I couldn't find a workaround to make my vision reality. So, I dropped it, and she went with something else. I haven't tried since even though I'm always thinking of ways to make stuff for other people. Airtable competition isn't where I want it for my use, but it's getting there. From now on, when I want to show someone an idea for a way to make their business smoother, I won't be doing it with Airtable. I'll be showing them the competition and maybe saying that I could do it a little better with a paid Airtable account, but that won't be their introduction to the format. Please reconsider chasing people away from free accounts. They used to be awesome, now they're terrible. I was a free user for months before I decided to become a paid user, and then a paid user for many years and more importantly, a fan who shared the product with countless others. Just something to consider.

It would be helpful if I am able to hide tables when they are not necessary for everyday work.

Hi everyone, Pello here from Moonland. As an Airtable Gold Partner, we’ve had the chance to build some pretty sophisticated tools in Airtable, like full ERPs and other complex systems. While we’ve been able to do a lot, there’s one feature that’s still missing that I think could help us build the perfect app: conditional pop-ups. What is the proposed idea/solution? The idea is to introduce a feature in Airtable that allows users to create and trigger conditional pop-ups when a button is clicked. These pop-ups could be customized to display warning messages, confirmation prompts, or any other relevant information before proceeding with an automation or action. How does it solve the user problems? This feature would enhance user experience by adding an extra layer of interactivity and control within Airtable. It helps prevent unintended actions by allowing users to confirm or review their choices before triggering potentially irreversible automations. This can be especially valuable in complex workflows where a simple mistake could lead to significant issues, such as data loss or incorrect processing. How was this validated? The need for this feature has been observed in various user scenarios where preventing accidental triggers is critical. Many users currently have to create complex workarounds or additional fields to mimic this functionality, which can lead to confusion and inefficiency. By implementing native pop-up functionality, Airtable can streamline these processes and reduce the need for such workarounds. Who is the target audience? This feature would benefit a wide range of Airtable users, particularly those managing complex workflows, such as project managers, product developers, and anyone using Airtable for tasks that involve critical or sensitive actions. It’s especially useful for industries like software development, inventory management, and any scenario where automated actions need to be carefully controlled. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this idea. We’re always looking for ways to improve the tools we create, and your feedback could really help. Thanks for reading this post! Pello

Context: our Airtable account hits the automation run limit every month. I believe we've upgraded to the plan with the maximum allowable amount of automation runs. FWIW: I would pay more for more automation runs, and would pay a lot for unlimited automation runs. Situation: There is a limit/cap on automations that can be run, per month There are a number of different automations based on a variety of triggers, across tables and bases Idea would address these two issues: Cannot currently maintain and/or optimize for a functional account, that will remain under the monthly automation limit, without access to the centralized automation run log Cannot currently troubleshoot or trace an issue when an automation is running, but it's not clear what is triggering it/in which table Thanks in advance for considering.

What is the proposed idea/solution? ...User is able to select multiple Views. Any changes applied to the first selected View are applied to the other selected Views (e.g. Column Width, Column Order, "Hide fields", "Filter", "Group", "Sort", "Color", "Row Height") How does is solve the user problems? ...Currently the process is manual for each View. This can be extremely time consuming and prone to human error, that can affect Synced Tables. Who is the target audience? ...Users who have more than one View per Table, especially users with a large number of Views per Table.

What is the proposed idea/solution? Allow users to react to a comment with an emoji like 👍 or ✔️ How does is solve the user problems? Eliminates the need for confirmatory messages or extra automations. It is a courtesy from one user to another their comment was seen, especially after @ mentions. Comment sections filled with too much "Thanks!" and "Got it!" How was this validated? ... Who is the target audience? All orgs using commenting regularly ...

What is the proposed idea/solution? Airtable desperately needs more options for date filtering. Most importantly the following: within next calendar week/month within past calendar week/month on or before the end of this calendar week on or before the end of next calendar week Airtable barely has filters for calendar weeks which is extremely frustrating because most program managers are looking at the tasks for the given week and it is super annoying to have to make it a custom between 2 date fields because saying on or before one week from now will show tasks from the following week within the first few days. How does is solve the user problems? This makes searches more automated so they will automatically show you what is happening in the given calendar week/month without having to do the current way which is: Date is on or after 11/1/2024 or date is on or before 11/30/2024 (which has to manually be changed every month). It just makes things unnecessarily difficult when it should just be simple to add these date filters.

Easy, I have a lot of columns and it would be great that we could freeze panes so I don't have to be scrolling back and forth! Also I love how the base and other areas say how many records there are in that window, it would be great if that option would be on the list layout and last but not least, I love to have buttons like "New Form Here" for X reason, it would be great to be able to add buttons on list layout. Thanks!!

Our team really needs the ability to group fields together and visually display those groups, similar to adding an extra header row in Excel (example below). Benefits: Enhanced Visual Clarity: This feature will provide an improved visual understanding of the relationship between different fields, eliminating the need for users to check each field's description separately. Improved Organization: This feature will allow users to categorize and group related fields together, enhancing the data's structure and making it easier to navigate and understand. Personalization: By allowing users to change the color and title of the group, the feature adds a layer of personalization, making the data representation more intuitive and user-specific. Use Case Examples: Project Management: In a project management base, fields can be grouped together based on different project stages, team responsibilities, etc., enhancing the understanding of project flow and status. CRM: In a CRM base, fields can be grouped by customer details, interaction history, deal status, etc., providing a better overview of customer relationships. HR Management: In an HR base, fields can be grouped into "Applicant Details" and "Interview Status", making it easier to track the recruitment process. Event Planning: In an event planning base, fields can be grouped by event details, participant information, logistics, etc., enhancing the event management process. This feature, with its focus on improving visual understanding and data organization, aligns with Airtable's commitment to making data management more intuitive and user-friendly. Requirements Ability to create groups of related fields. Ability to assign individual fields to these groups. Ability to distinguish each group visually in both List and Grid views. Ability to display the name of the group in a master header above the respective grouped fields. Ability to personalize the appearance of these groups. Ability to change the color of a group. Ability to change the title of a group.

What is the proposed idea/solution? Extend the date dependencies feature from only coverind 'date' to also cover 'hours' and 'minutes' How does is solve the user problems? I want to build an agenda for a conference. The records are my sessions (e.g. Keynote 1). Now I wanted to use the date dependency feature to update the whole schedule if I let's say change the duration of Keynote 1. Who is the target audience? Basically anyone who want to build a schedule or running order.
