Views are useful, but sometimes a view needs to have lots of information in it regardless to be useful. Side scrollling with dozens of columns can be unwieldy and difficult to navigate (especially as the user adds new columns in different views, and they automatically place them at the end of other views). Colour coding and/or being able to group columns would seemingly be a simple to implement and very useful functionality. Grouping columns would be nice for tabbing between views and being able to move a bunch of columns at once (or unhide a column and have it snap to it's "group").

To whom it may concern, An enhancement suggestion from Kalypso: Type and Buffer, currently only available to update in Timeline view, should be part of the Date Dependencies required fields and thus available for update in other views and/or with Automations. Expected Benefits: Ability to configure all elements of date dependencies in any view Enable ability to use Type and Buffer fields as Automation triggers or targets of automation updates Please consider adding this capability. Regards, Jason Knighten

What is the proposed idea/solution? I would like to see the added options within a Grid View (and also in Interfaces) of the ability to manipulate the order of Linked Records within a Link field. Options including; Sort Records by an associated View within the Linked Table. Sort Records by one or many lookup fields within the Linked Table (such as a date, number, string etc). Sort Records as per their originally linked stack order, but also add a reverse stack option to show the recently added records either first or last. A toggle option that turns off all sort and leaves the current behaviour as is, allowing the user to manually sort records into any random order they desire. If the user toggles a sort on, and then off again, their desired manual sort order returns (and is not lost). How does is solve the user problems? A user can employ a Scripting Extension script or an Automation script action to execute upon their Link Field being updated, where their script applies the desired sort order to the records within the field - but such a workaround is rigid and out of reach of most common users. I believe that having Link Field sort options as part of the Airtable UI would be a widely accepted and used feature. Who is the target audience? Anyone using a Link Field who finds the need to apply order to those linked records within that Link Field.

Airtable finally added this calendar month as a date filter option which is great, however there needs to be a last calendar month instead of just last month. We need to submit every month our expenses from the previous month. So for example today, I need to be able to see all expenses from January (i.e. last calendar month). How it is now if I do last month, it will show me expenses from Jan 14 - Feb 14 which is not useful.

It would be usefull to be able to adjust the header height. I woud use this feature to reduce the width of a field and still be able to read the header.

What is the proposed idea/solution? ...User is able to select multiple Views. Any changes applied to the first selected View are applied to the other selected Views (e.g. Column Width, Column Order, "Hide fields", "Filter", "Group", "Sort", "Color", "Row Height") How does is solve the user problems? ...Currently the process is manual for each View. This can be extremely time consuming and prone to human error, that can affect Synced Tables. Who is the target audience? ...Users who have more than one View per Table, especially users with a large number of Views per Table.

I'd like to see a formula function for looking up values in linked records, something like: LOOKUP({Linked Record field}, {Field in linked table}) Basically, a two-criteria lookup similar to "INDEX MATCH MATCH" in Excel without needing to import all the fields from the linked table into the current one. Or just a dot/membership operator in SQL databases. Currently, if I want to fetch data from a linked record, I need to use a Lookup field. This is fine if I want to display the field's values in my table or consistently refer to it in a formula; but if I have multiple fields I want to reference in a single formula, then I would need to add a Lookup field for each of the source fields. This adds an number of extra fields to my base that only serve a single formula field and clutter up my field lists. (Or I would need to do something hacky with the formula, or use scripts/automations.) For example, say I have two tables: Articles and Authors. Articles has fields like Article Author, Article Type, and Article Cost. Authors has fields like Name, Email, and the rate schedule (News Rate, Feature Rate, Review Rate), as below: Articles Article Author – Linked record: Authors Article Type – Single select: News, Feature, Review Article Cost – Formula: ? Authors Name – Short Text Email – Email News Rate – Currency Feature Rate – Currency Review Rate – Currency Articles Written – Linked record: Articles If I want to lookup an author's email address, I can add a Lookup field and it's a good reference to have for every record in my article table. However, for an article's cost, I only want to see the relevant rate from the author's record. Currently, in order to do this, I'd need to add Lookup fields for each rate because the Formula field can only reference fields in the current table: Articles Article Author – Linked record: Authors Article Type – Single select: News, Feature, Review Article Cost – Formula: SWITCH({Article Type}, "News", {News Cost}... News Cost – Lookup: Author.{News Rate} Feature Cost – Lookup: Author.{Feature Rate} Review Cost – Lookup: Author.{Review Rate} But now I have three fields dedicated to this one formula. The fields are of no other use in that particular table and are basically clutter that I have to hide in every view. If a LOOKUP function existed, then I don't need those extra fields, and instead my formula would look something like SWITCH({Article Type}, "News", LOOKUP({Article Author}, {News Rate})... This would benefit anyone working with rate cards, inventories, or schedules (or any case where they need to perform a variable-field lookup). Another use case is doing a "deep" lookup, such as getting the country code for a phone number based on a city. Say you have a base with tables Phone Numbers, Cities, Countries; and Phone Numbers are linked to Cities, and Cities are linked to Countries; and {Country Code} is a field within Countries. Because Lookup fields in Airtable only go to one other table (you can't lookup a Linked Record field in another table and get data from that third table), you would have to add a Lookup field to Cities for {Country Code}.

Please consider adding on/off buttons (checkboxes) to the filters to allow users to toggle individual filters on/off. Exhausted from creating/deleting/creating/deleting/creating/deleting/creating/deleting/creating filters 🙂

We need a 'Conditional Select' type field to add to forms. This type of single select and multi select question would conditionally disable and 'grey-out' specific options in select questions on forms. It doesn't seem currently possible to do this. There would be many use cases for this. My particular one is that I have a form for view only users to update certain fields in a database for a not for profit or charity music school recording students and musical instruments loaned to them. We need to prevent students resigning but not handing instruments back. The first single select question on the form is "What do you want to do?" which hides/shows various fields on the same form. One of the options is to resign a student. If that student is still holding an instrument, (ie. {instrument ID} is not blank) It should not be selectable, but should still be visible, greyed out so that the user can see they are in the right place and its clear they cannot select that option. An important feature of the proposed conditional select field would be the option to include a warning message when the disabled option is clicked or hovered over, which should allow the inclusion of variables from the source field causing the restriction. ie. in my use case, I would want to say, "{First name} cannot be resigned at this time because records show they are still holding the instrument {Instrument ID}. I think this feature would be of great benefit to a lot of Airtable users.
