Hello Community, I’ve had a bit of an idea. At our company, we have tables that can have up to 30-40 columns in them, especially on the “summary” or “master” tables, where data is assembled from other tables. This can get very confusing. What If we could group similar columns together in a similar way we group rows? Color-coded, collapsible, and individually shareable. It could be quite powerful. Thoughts?

I’m using forms for user research and I would like to segment answers from different customer groups, similar to how survey monkey allows you to create different links to the same survey and segment answers accordingly. In this case I want to create I want to create different forms with the same questions, but which have a hidden pre-filled field called “Origin”, prefilled with values like “Facebook”, “Internal” or “Newsletter”, so I can backtrack what kinds of answers come from which channel. Being able to prefill fields that are hidden from the form would allow me do do this inside of Airtable rather than go to a more complicated tool like Survey Monkey. Best, Oli

The gallery view is a really helpful way to visually explore a set of records by using large photos to represent them. Would greatly appreciate the ability to group items in the Gallery View by a field, similar to how Grouping is supported in Grid view. Right now, if I want to look at a subset of items as a group, I’m forced to make individual sorted gallery views, or look at items lost in a sea of other gallery items.

What is the proposed idea/solution? I would like to see the added options within a Grid View (and also in Interfaces) of the ability to manipulate the order of Linked Records within a Link field. Options including; Sort Records by an associated View within the Linked Table. Sort Records by one or many lookup fields within the Linked Table (such as a date, number, string etc). Sort Records as per their originally linked stack order, but also add a reverse stack option to show the recently added records either first or last. A toggle option that turns off all sort and leaves the current behaviour as is, allowing the user to manually sort records into any random order they desire. If the user toggles a sort on, and then off again, their desired manual sort order returns (and is not lost). How does is solve the user problems? A user can employ a Scripting Extension script or an Automation script action to execute upon their Link Field being updated, where their script applies the desired sort order to the records within the field - but such a workaround is rigid and out of reach of most common users. I believe that having Link Field sort options as part of the Airtable UI would be a widely accepted and used feature. Who is the target audience? Anyone using a Link Field who finds the need to apply order to those linked records within that Link Field.

The new List View is great. But there's no option to share it, as there is with every other view. Can this functionality be added? Particularly hoping for the embed function to be enabled...

2024 update: Even though Airtable eventually added this feature, all of this is possible in a MUCH easier & much more customizable way with Fillout’s advanced forms for Airtable. Fillout’s advanced forms for Airtable are 100% free and offers hundreds of features that Airtable’s native forms don’t offer, including the ability to conditionally hide fields on a form, update Airtable records from a form, display Airtable lookup fields & Airtable rollup fields & Airtable attachments & formulas on forms, dynamically & conditionally filter linked record fields by any values that you would like, perform math or other live calculations on your forms, accept payments on forms, create multi-page forms with conditional paths, create new linked records on a form, display as many fields as you want to see in a linked record selection list (including attachments), connect a single form to dozens of external apps simultaneously, limit the number of linked records that can be chosen, set advanced field validations & limitations, upload an unlimited amount of attachments simultaneously, add CAPTCHAs to your form, add choice matrixes to your forms, direct integration with hundreds of apps like Calendly & Google Maps on your forms, and so much more. ————- Old post from 2020: Not sure if this is a bug in Airtable or just a missing feature, but we really need this feature. Airtable needs the ability for us to have hidden fields on forms that will submit data upon form submission. Currently, Airtable doesn’t accept the values from any hidden fields. Here’s the situation: My clients are currently having difficulties with Airtable forms, because prefilling fileds on forms (using the “?prefill_fieldname=” syntax) only works if the fields that you’re prefilling are actually visible upon submitting. We’re trying to prefill hidden fields on the form that we’ve hidden using Airtable’s brand new conditional field feature for forms. So we’ve hidden a bunch of fields (using fake values that will always result in false). We’re forcing these fields to be hidden. These hidden fields actually get their prefilled values filled in correctly! How do we know this? Because if we type in the fake values to “show” these hidden fields again, the prefilled values are visible! The prefilled values are right there! But — the only way to get these values to be added into our Airtable database upon form submission is to keep the field visible. If the field is hidden, Airtable won’t submit the value into the base, which then defeats the purpose of having a hidden field to begin with. Thanks!

It would be great if rich text formatting was available in the forms help text. I would be easier to emphasis important points about completing the form properly.

What is the proposed idea/solution? I propose the introduction of a new field type named "Location." This field would be specifically designed to handle address inputs more efficiently and accurately in tables and more specifically form fields. The key feature of this field would be its integration with an address autocomplete service, like Google Places API, to assist users in entering correct and standardized addresses. How does is solve the user problems? Enhanced Data Accuracy: Autocomplete would reduce the likelihood of errors and inconsistencies in address data entry, ensuring higher data quality. Improved User Experience: Users would find it easier and faster to input addresses, enhancing the overall usability of forms and databases. Streamlined Data Collection: For applications like CRM, event management, and logistics, where address data is crucial, this feature would streamline data collection and processing. Global Address Coverage: Leveraging a service like Google Places would provide access to a comprehensive and updated global address database. How was this validated? In our specific scenario, we receive engineering service requests from customers and clients through our website. A critical component of efficiently processing these requests is obtaining accurate location addresses. Currently, we find that only about 50% of the addresses submitted are correct. This inefficiency hampers our workflow, as we frequently need to allocate additional time and resources to verify and complete partial or incorrect addresses. Common issues we encounter include misspelled street names, inaccurate street suffixes (such as St., Ln., Dr., Ave.), and missing or erroneous zip codes. Who is the target audience? This feature would be immensely beneficial to any user who relies on storing and utilizing location addresses within Airtable. Given the platform's extensive user base, it's reasonable to assume that this encompasses a significant number of individuals and organizations. ...

Love AIrtable… However… A partly helpful solution to column width difficulties (cell data being cut off if too wide for column width) could be to allow font size to be changed - Universally across the entire grid view. Could we also have left, middle and right justification of cell text please. My integer number fields are right justified when the next field which has a text field is left justified, so the contents crowd together. Looks untidy. Layout is important right, to make it look really professional
