This is exactly what I pictured as well. And just like you mentioned its really hard to move fields having to drag individual fields one at a time.
Maybe another QoL update would be to let you select and move multiple fields at once or groups at once...
I have the same issue where tooltips for views popup and get stuck on the screen. For me I have to hover back over the same view again to have it reset. It gets super annoying as it happens so often.
